I don't even know what's causing it, just pain in every muscle, even to the extent of a deep breath being really sore.

    shit sucks.

Did they give a muscle relaxant too, or just the tramadol? When I was having my worst back spasms I ended up having to take both

  • FyndirFyndir Registered User regular
They gave me both tramadol and paracetamol for some reason, I suspect they are working under the assumption that I'm fine, and just need the pain managed until it goes away by itself.

I think the worst pain I have ever felt was a couple of months ago when my back decided to scream in pain at me for a couple of days. It seriously felt like my back was on the verge of snapping in half right at the small of my back whenever I was standing up. Lying down felt better, but was still painful. Then it felt better after a night's sleep, and it just faded away. So weird.

But my family on my dad's side has a history of bad backs, so it was probably just a preview of troubles to come.

    I have gall bladder problems

I cannot eat popcorn because it makes my gall bladder go insane and try to kill me.

That is the worst pain I've felt. Like I've been stabbed in the gut.

I made two mistakes this morning. Was cooking without a shirt on, and I flipped the food TOWARDS me instead of AWAY.

Hello grease on my belly, do you enjoy being so damn hot?

Seriously though, there's something abjectly horrifying about self catheterising, it feels so incredibly wrong on every level that my body is just insisting that I stop, but the doctors are convinced I have to do it.

Stubbed my toe on the corner of the bed today.

so now I have a weird halftoenail

Excellent, I now have a permanent catheter with a valve on the end.

I have a tap. On my dick.
    Ladies. :winky:

It was either that or self catheterise a minimum of 5 times a day, or I suppose screaming "FUCK YOU" and walking out, but that would be silly.

Dunno if I want to cry or not.

I'm really worried about having to self-catheterise soon. The nerve damage is only getting worse, and the chemo isn't helping.

Stale, I'm not entirely in a position to offer advice at this point, but so far my thoughts are this:

Long term catheter seems a bit less painful in general, but feels fucking weird, there is a constant nagging thought that you're about to piss yourself because you can feel something there, and if it is unsupported for any length of time it can feel pretty bizarre, I am hoping that at least some of this will fade over time.

Short term catheters are difficult to do, because it hurts, and convincing your body to do something painful can be pretty stressful in my experience. Especially when you're about halfway in, and it's already sore, and you're aware that the sharpest jab is about to come, but you have no real choice but pressing on, this might also fade over time, I got the fuck out of dodge as quickly as I could so I don't really know.

Once or twice a week I'll wake up to my ankle hurting kind of bad. It goes away in about half an hour and it's never once hurt while being walked on or running.

Emotional pain hmmm a 3 to a 6 depending on the day.

This story contains poop, mental anguish, and pathetic levels of nonsense.
Today I woke up in a pretty pissy mood, having had a dream in which I no longer had a catheter, wandered to the bathroom, collected a book and proceeded to begin my morning ablutions in style. Partway through this process I felt a weird feeling coming from my catheter, like it had hit something, I figured it had just been swinging a little and collided with the side of the bowl...nnnnnnnope.

As it turns out, I managed to poop. On the valve of my catheter. (Illustration for those unfamiliar: here) Just a big shitty smear right across it, and when I noticed it I was just sat there like a chump with my mouth hanging open, wondering what the fuck I was meant to do. A bit of thought led me to realise that it was allllllmost the right day for changing out to a new valve anyway, so I quietly removed as much of the poop as I could from the valve before sorting myself out and leaving the bathroom in order to go get the spare valves.

I'm feeling pretty dumb right now, and pretty depressed about this whole thing, all I could think while in the shower changing out the valve was about how this is it, this is now my life for the foreseeable future, and fuck me if that isn't pretty shitty.

I've a bad back for ages (5 years and counting) now, my pain scale usually hovers around a 2 (aka: just enough to be aware that I have a bad back. This is the sweet spot as it makes me pay attention to my posture), but when it gets a bit worse it's a draining pain that doesn't go away for days and just makes me feel tired and weak. Oh and sometimes it shoots up to an 8 during which I just sit up right and lie down a lot and curse my weak body and bad posture.

When I feel pain I work around my back with using my knees a lot more, but those motherfuckers are kind of underdeveloped from puberty and heavy using will make them hurt. But I'm so used to them being bitches that I'll just soldier through while I wait for my back to get a bit better.

Got nothing on Fyndir and Stale, though. Keep on trucking and aim for the skies.

Seriously, much though I've been complaining and posting here, I don't think my problems are on the same level as Stale and some of the other posters on these forums, my stuff is rarely actually painful, and isn't even immediately life threatening, this catheter is a new thing but in theory once I'm used to it my life will be relatively normal, it's just annoying more than anything.

    Ughhhhh, that story... :(

I can't compete with anybody in here, but I have fairly severe pain in my back sometimes. Stretching, exercising, and icing it helps a bit, but it seems like it'll never go away entirely.

It only comes around when I stand or walk. I get incredible muscle tightness in my ass, and the pain is bad enough to make me limp. I think it's because I have a hard time keeping my back straight. It seems like I'm always standing on either one leg or the other and never both, so my pelvis is always tilted, which I suspect is what's causing this.

    shariah law.

they literally have people whose sole job is to patrol public areas rooting out public displays of affection/women wearing unsuitable clothing etc etc

if they find this, they organise a mob and lynch/stone/burn the victim in public

The joy of having curious friends, I'm now having an entire conversation about how / if various sexual acts would be affected by my catheter.

So far we've worked out that blowjobs are pretty much out, forever, unless I find a girl who doesn't mind piss in her mouth, and that most girls probably aren't into having a condom that's partially full of piss by the time you're done boning.

This is pretty depressing, I am questioning the value of this medical treatment.

Pain levels increasing, consistently too hot or too cold despite attempts at normalisation, urine getting darker, possibly redder.

I swear to god if I have to put up with another infection I am tearing this catheter out and using it to scourge the doctors that put it in from one end of the hospital to the other.
