I believe the Hotchkiss is a special tank that requires a code to obtain. Aside from other ways it would be acquired, a few guys who went to PAX grabbed codes.

As far as 'skipping grinds' with free XP, it's not exactly as striaght-forward as it sounds (if it's your first grind up any tree anyway). The basis is to get a tank to elite status and then not use accelerate crew training. All the XP that tank accumulates can then be turned into free XP (at a cost of 1 gold per 25 XP). Thus, this tactic is only useful if you're putting money into the game to begin with. If you AREN'T, then free XP has to be accumulated as normal, which means you won't be skipping much of anything at all.

Has anyone figured out anything about Operation Avalanche? I saw the announcement but couldn't find any info. I want free stuff. =P

The Hotchkiss is the PzKpfw 38H735 (f) premium light tank. It's actually a French tank that the Germans used after they captured a bunch of them.

EDIT: Didn't see the responses. Pretty sure you can still buy the thing.

Criminy!! I thought the Luchs was manuverable. New Tier 5 russian light. Apparently it and the new US T5 light are really good.

Ya, that maneuverability looks pretty cartoonish. I'm hoping that's a result of his 11 FPS and not the tank. But I doubt T-50 swarms will be a common occurrence in random battles on the real server. Also, I'm really upset that he never presses Alt or Tab once during the whole match. More disturbed than I probably should be

He hits alt a few times at the very beginning. Not sure why he'd particularly need/want to during the furball in the base, though - he's busy shootin' stuff!

But on topic, yeah, looks pretty crazy! It takes those dunes without breaking a sweat. It'll be interesting to see if that zippiness is enough to allow these tanks to break through enemy lines with any regularity.

Played a bit tonight with a fellow WANGer and pretty much feel like I had a horseshoe shoved up my ass as a result. I performed well in just about every game no matter how outmatched we were (and whether we won or lost), but the highlight was probably this match which we were actually losing PRETTY BAD until 5 of us somehow swung it around.

I feel like I've been spoiled by the KV-13, which seems better in absolutely every way ... So I have to grind the shitty tank instead of the fun one. Greaaaat ...
That IS is getting REAL tempting.

I dont have a KV13, but its one tank I just dont usually feel threatned by when I see it for some reason. Maybe it just that I dont see them that often. Or its that the tanks I have that do see KV13's dont really have that much trouble with its armor (Lowe, T25, pershing)

There's a reason for that. Apparently, it doesn't quite have the armor of a KV, or quite the weapons of the T-34/85. And it's at TIer 7.

Clearly a matter of preference. The KV-13 has the same gun options as the T-34-85 and T-43 minus the 100mm. Personally, I will do roughly twice as well in any given game in a KV-13 as in a T-43, so ... if you don't fear T-43s, you probably won't fear the KV-13. Genuinely, it is a bigger threat to SPGs and other equal tiered tanks, and makes a better scout (faster, better top speed, better radio).

I prefer the T-43 because of the D10T. My own stats are:

KV-13: 8 for 8 (100% win rate), 837 avg exp
T-43: 53 for 85 (63% win rate), 838 avg exp

So, even with losses mixed in the T-43 was earning me more average exp. I know that's a small sample size for the KV-13, but with no losses I'd have figured it would pull ahead.

That's fair, and sticks in line with my 'matter of preference'. I hate the D10T and love being speedy.
The stats for mine are kind of opposite yours, although exactly in line:

KV-13: 56 of 115 (48% win rate), 497 avg XP
T-43: 4 for 6 (66% win rate), 493 avg XP

Although that said, all of those battles with the T-43 were with premium and I'm not sure that gets factored in.

On that note, is the BT-2 ever NOT fun? =P

The BT-2 is the best thing ever. I've been running around in a BT-2 rape squad with two other buddies and it's been a ball.

I decided to get the 107mm for my SU-86.

I think I'm in love. I'll be in my KV later today so no real loss there and will be rocking the KV, the SU-86, and a T-34. Tier 5 rape time!

I tried the heavy tanks out and yeah, that's definitely not for me. They're too slow, too big, and don't mesh at all with my sneak in/fade out play style. Fast attack medium tanks and tank destroyers 4 lyfe. At least that's one less tech tree I gotta worry about. My SU-86 is just ridiculously good fun since I can engage anything I get matched against due to my incredibly powerful 107 and with my rammer and a 100% loader, the slow fire rate isn't an issue anymore. I've gotten the hang of proper use of medium tanks and have been having a ball in my T-34. Between my T-34 and SU-86, I think I'll be set for a while.

Well, it's with a heavy heart that I have to announce on behalf of @lostprophet, @Simpsonia and myself that we are leaving the clan. We're all fairly high in tiers, and we have an interest in getting into clan wars, which is not the goal of [WANG]. I'm not complaining about that, mind you, a casual clan is a wonderful thing, but we want to try being competitive. We've all enjoyed playing with you guys, and I'm sure we still can platoon it up every now and then, but we're going to try to focus on CW for at least a little while.

Also, I got my GW-E and it is niiiiiiiice.

At the start that's what I think a lot of us planned/hoped for, but a lot of the early leaders stopped playing. Right now the plan is probably to make our own clan and see what happens, since the good clans are either full or are AOD.
