They seem good until you read Helsreach, and then you realize that all of the others are bad in comparison.

Helsreach really is one of, if not the, best 40k novels out there. Titanicus is a close second, and a very nice read (I like it because it was a long book).

So people actually got in to multi? OH DO TELL!

Helsreach, Thousand Sons, Eisenhorn. I think those're my favorites.

So... multiplayer. Is the stun worth using? Can I execute? There really isn't much info in-game for how to properly play multiplayer.

Nobody know because nobody can get in a game. I've been stuck on the "Starting...." screen for the last five minutes.

    Enjoying this game greatly.

I love the Plasma gun, it's so powerful.

This game is highly enjoyable, I just got to the first level from the demo and am still extremely happy with it. (Though that isn't incredibly far in)

I will say I'm a little disappointed that the opening cutscene wasn't playable until the actual start. That would have been a suitably epic opening to the game, rather than the typical tutorial level.

Oh hey look, it's Anya... oh wait, her name's Mira. Huh.

I gotta say, the Space Marines in this game are pretty soft-spoken. You imagine them screaming about glory and the Emperor and shit, but Titus is just this serene dude who seems like he'd like to go out for a caffe macchiato and a poetry reading.

Gameplay's about what I expected, which is awesome.

I like the subtle way they let you know your ammo magazine's running low by changing the tone of your gunfire. It's a nice touch.

Oh hey, just picked up a heavy bolter. This is awesome. I better tear it off and carry it with me. And... oh, the game suddenly made me toss it away and now I can't pick it up again. Wtf?

Because holy balls do I suck at the competitive multiplayer.

Most space marines are warrior monks, plus it just Orks for the most part so no need to get too excited. Speaking from the demo, that was one of the things that really appealed to me and, to me at least, shows that Relic really do get marines. They are the ultimate fighting machines and for the most part are going to be the consummate professionals, calm under any pressure. The frothing loonies are very much the exception.

As for skull recordings, if again it's like the demo there is some bizarre option to just collect (click B) or to listen to them first (hold B). Would have thought this option should only really come up once you've got them the first time.

Do these skull recorders actually record anything or are they just lame collectibles? I keep picking them up and expecting them to play a log recording...

You can listen to the audio logs in the menu.

I like Titus a lot, but that's probably because he's nice to the IG mooks compared to Avitus from the DoW2 Blood Ravens, who act like their are pussies.

The sound of eight hooves reaches his ears, comes from the heavenly light, two wolves howls fills his heart with fear, and he sees two ravens fly. Down from the sky a warlord rides, like fire his one eye glows, and just before the preacher dies he knows his god is false.

it feels like using heavy bolters as they're meant to be used - HOLDING DOWN FIRE YELLING FOR THE EMPEROR - is actually counter to what gives the greatest benefit, which is using them like a sniper rifle :O

The first wave of Multi was neat. Raptors/Assault Marines seem ridiculously overpowered while you're still learning the dodge timing.

And then, on the seventh day, God gave us Meltas. Meltas fix all your problems.

You can actually loot ammo boxes from the environment, even when you're already at full ammo. Where does all that ammo go? You're certainly not getting it. Why is it gone?

I've gotten away without it. I'm not sure how good it is, but generally recommend flanking.
    Can I execute?

    No.

Wish there was a way to deactivate Fury. I only use it for taking out Nobz, but they'll only require about half the Fury meter. Once the Nob's dead, I'm just sitting there in Fury mode watching it drain away...

Actually that's something that has confused me, but it might be reviewers getting confused.

Do you do more damage when the Fury meter is full, but you're not in Fury mode?

More orks of course, but this time you're Grimaldus defending a hopeless position, chain-strangling boyz all the way.

In fact, I dream of all the Space Marine Battles books as episodic content.
    It's a good dream.

It gives you bullettime and powers up all your normal strikes. If you have any left do a fury stomp (attack attack attack stun) it has the range of a nuclear strike and will stun every single person it hits.
If you don't have anyone nearby just aim at the nearest bunch of enemy and shoot em all in bullettime.

Well, Amazon says mine is shipping right now. I'm really looking forward to this, especially the golden relic chain sword I got be preordering. I've never played a game in this series, but I already love the weaponry.

That eurogamer review is disengenious. I read the whole thing and it sounded like a 7 or 8 and then he gave it a 6. He did not justify his reasons for giving it a 6 well enough considering how positive he was during the whole thing.
It's contradictory. That score is clearly arbitrary given. Scores are arbitrary in the first place. Disregard.

Oh, also, he marked it down because he couldn't play it. He's whining about the "flawed" executions and getting shot up while meleeing people. The last one is hilarious. He's getting tanked by the melee dps while the ranged dps shoot him up and he's complaining about it. Doesn't know how to play.

I've nearly finished single player, and it's kind of telling that what relic most needed was a team twice the size and a bit more time

things like only having one thunder hammer execution on bloodletters just feels really.. kind of sad

if you're going to be using executions so much, they should really make it so that you have a chance of seeing something really unusual and awesome - but instead it's the same animations over and over and honestly I began to stop meleeing as much later on because it began to feel like a real drag seeing the same executions

I'm also really missing some kind of upgrade/skilling system - there's no resource in the world you care about collecting other than the occasional bit of ammo, but mostly you don't even care because it doesn't matter at all if you run out

    o well

Good luck - I really wanted in on this on day 1 but Amazon somehow screwed up my order and I won't have it until Thursday. I don't usually have issues with preorders but I've not used Amazon in particular too many times prior to this so maybe this kind of thing is nothing new. :? At least I get a shiny chainsword, I guess.

No customizer until Level 4? Wow, way to steal the absolute worst aspects of CoD, Relic.
