Oh cool, this started! And I have messages! Hooray!
(...And of course I'm playing Turkey. Curses! )
Yeah, I really hate it when I start in one of the safest spots on the board.
Wait a second...

So that was an interesting talk on Italy in the pod cast. But their conclusion was "we don't know how to win as Italy". So uh.... Yeah.
So as I understand it Italy is the hard one? Great. :P
Actually, now that I think about it, Austria was the worst country to get, if I'm remembering right.
So, if I win, it'll be shame on all of you.
Think I'd rather have Italy but, hey, someone's gotta take this aging Empire to one more Era of Glory! 8-)
I propose that general info and talk should go here, for the benefit of spectators. Also, an image of the board after each round of orders, so that we can follow along.
I didn't start one. I think everything can go here that isn't in private messaging over the playdiplomacy site.
Like the fact that England is willing to share it's stockpiles of Tea with all allies in return for food that isn't boiled until it's tasteless.

It was Spring of 1901, and the sun was shining. Birds were singing, and children of all countries were playing together on the borders. A friendly discussion of national foods developed, and leaders smiled at each other and laughed heartily. Nothing could possibly go wrong...

I have moves placed, but not confirmed on the off chance my internet goes off everywhere at once. It's so early to make decisions yet, plus I still haven't even heard from everyone in the game yet.

As mother Russia, I'm always unsure. I have something like 46 different openings I can consider just for spring 01. Sure, some of them are terrible, but that's still more than anyone else.
Edit: I also vote we try to convince England that he should try the Yorkshire Pudding opening, just to prove to us how much of a badass England is in this game. ;p
England is finalized. There aint a whole lot for me to do that isn't ridiculously offensive.

Heh, that was going to be the caption for my fall update.
If I ignore messages during the day, its only because I hate writing anything lengthy on my phone, and work has blocked all sites of interest. No offense meant to ambassadors.
French carrier pigeons have been dispatched (orders are in)
Look, you can put a baret on a carrier pigeon, but that doesn't make it French.

My orders are in, and the board flipped immediately.
Interesting setup. France heading straight East, ignoring portugal this turn.

Ahh, Diplomacy.
I already feel screwed.
Good times!

Honestly, that's probably the ballsiest set of French moves I've ever seen in my 10+ games. Whenever I play France, I'm more than happy to just take my two uncontested centers and bounce in Burgandy.
I checked the diplom.org database, and that is an un-named opening. Become famous and name it something, SeGaTai!
Also, I noticed some misorders with support. I had to play with orders to figure out the support option in Spring, and here's what I found out. When you choose support, click on the unit you want to support, then click where you want the supported unit to end up. Make sure to reread the orders, but that should do the trick. I'd hate to see someone lose a piece or center because of (unintentional) misorders.

You can probably find some other useful stuff on that site, as well.
