I just finished moving cross country, from Illinois to Georgia.

Slowly trying to re-assemble my life out of all the boxes, and getting everything registered/transferred, ect.

However, having the pressure of the move itself off my shoulders is a huge relief.

    okay

That's right, I took the advice of my Professor to... feel unique?

You're damn right, though, that I'm going to try to be unique better than all artists in the past. If not, then what the hell is the point? If I'm going to be writing music I'd better supply something that they didn't or I might as well get the hell out of the field. If I'm going to just try to be "another" Xenakis or Schoenberg or Part or, hell, fucking Von Bingen then I'll fail, because I won't ever be as good at being what past artists are as the past artists. Sure, I respect what Xenakis does. I like listening to Ferneyhough, and Ligeti, Adams, they're half of my music library. That doesn't mean that I want to do what they're doing. If it did, then I'd be better off as a performer, not a composer.
