Playstation Plus! Sony loves you, honest

Some of us have Playstation 3s and some of those people are signed up for Playstation Plus! It's Sony's version of Xbox Live Gold, in that you pay for it and get stuff, but that stuff is somewhere between meh and ok. Cloud saves are nice I guess, automatic updates are ok, but the real draw is the monthly free games. Sometimes they suck, sometimes they're ok, but in February they're killing it:

    I'm looking forward to it, I heard good things about FC2 and I could use a new FPS. And it's free so why not? Which is honestly why I download the games every month, you might as well.

    So far my favorite has been costume quest, that's a pretty great game. Plants vs. Zombies is pretty good too.

    Yeah they go away when your subscription runs out but most of them are pretty disposable and you won't miss them when they go.

    Yeah I have a ps3 and like it but play station plus does not seem worth it. I could just buy the games I want every once in a while and not lose them once my sub goes

    Edit: also I bought far cry 2 at launch and absolutely hated it respawning checkpoints and everybody being a bullet sponge killed it for me

    It's not exactly great value but I've gotten it as a Christmas gift a few times now and it's nice to have. I probably wouldn't pay for it myself but as a free thing it's cool.

    And mensch most of them are PS minis, you can play enough of one of those in about an hour.

    I think the licensing is the same as it is on the xbox, IE you have a license permanently attached to that console and also one attached to your PSN ID that you bought it with

    So redownloading shouldn't be an issue

    It's really an unsolvable problem. If they're yours forever, then it's easily abusable (sign up for one month, one day, one free trial, download everything you want, cancel account). If they go away when you unsubscribe, then that sucks and you're trapped.

    The solution is to destroy your PS3.

    Maybe have some of the games become yours for good once you have been a member long enough. Or you get to choose which games to become permanent after x amount of months as a member. I guess that would still lead to some people cancelling their accounts so I guess it isn't happening

    The solution I used was to use the PS+ discount to buy the games on the cheap, using my one month free sorry-we-let-hackers-steal-your-info stuff. Games bought with said discount don't go away.

    There's no good reason to want Plus, I'm just tired of downloading these random tiny games and having nobody to talk about them with.

    Did anybody else download Elemental Monster, either when it was free or just because? It seems cool but I haven't played it much, I downloaded it in the first place because I miss Culdcept.

    Given their history I just buy $20 cards, it's not as convenient but it seems safer.
