I tried this out last night. Boy do I stink. Do we have a PA list of players to add to the friend's list? I think I'll stick with TDM until I get more familiar with stuff.

Can the OP post a list of IN-GAME names so that penny-arcade players can Pub together?

I suppose this might work for getting a list of people.

I've really been wanting a PA player list and some other organizational things to happen for awhile. I might just go ahead and start doing that stuff myself, since there seems to be some interest. (Thanks Ash-Housewares, you are awesome.)

I'd really love to get like a PA forum crew team together, that would rock! We could eventually play on a casual ladder or something like that. Or abandon our lives as we know it and go pro. /poopsockfortribes

Added my name to the list. I'm not the best player in the world, but would love to play with the same people regularly.

Ash, you are awesome. Great idea! Will be nice to play with some familiar faces! Cheers

Big props to Ash for the list....added my name in there as well. Looking forward to playing with some PAers in the near future :^:

In other Tribes news, I played A LOT of TDM last night (like 8-10 matches), and am now the proud owner of ~8500XP. What should I unlock? I'm thinking of saving further and unlocking the Doombringer class for some chaingun goodness. But then again, I played almost exclusively as pathfinder last night delivering blue plate specials all night long, so maybe one of the lighter classes would be better?

Infiltrators standing on the flag with the Heavy perk? And a Doombringer guarding the generator with mines, forcefields, and a bolt launcher?

This sort of craziness should not be allowed!

  • sliver911sliver911 Registered User regular
I would be interested in some Ladder play sometime in the future!
I just wanted to let you all know that I have an extra Beta Key to give out if anyone is interested.
PM me and let me know!

Watching some of the 4chan vs reddit vods. I've played against alot of these guys in pubs since I see them regularly destroying fools. Man that Seph guy just seems untouchable, he would show up in our base and kill everyone no problem. Just like in these matches, guy just almost never misses with any weapon I've seen him use. Awesome players, something to work towards.

Seph is apparently the Chilean guy with 140 ping. How he manages to be that accurate with that latency...I have no fucking clue!

Was he playing Sentinal, cause the Sniper is Lag Compensated Hitscan which means your latency is almost unimportant as long as you can hit the Target on your screen. So long as he was good enough his Ping would not hurt him much.

  • DramDram Registered User regular
He was a sentinel, but from what I heard in the post game interview, he had to either aim a bit in front or behind his target to compensate.

As far as I'm concerned, Doombringer is the king of CTF defense. If you ever think you'll want to guard the flag I highly recommend it. That said, all of the classes are pretty good depending on what you want to do. I've been pretty happy with the starting armors for the most part. Personally, if I'm in medium or light armor I want a spinfusor which keeps me from using the alternate classes very often.

Just started this, added my name to the list. I've missed me some Tribes, but geez am I awful. 2 kills in two matches, both off of lucky mortar shots. :(

Agreed on all of that. You can be a boss with any class once you figure out the subtleties. I'd definitely buy at least the smallest booster for the VIP bonus if you haven't already. I resisted paying a cent for like two weeks, but the base XP trickle is so slow I couldn't stand it.

One of the funniest things I've heard of is a guy using the infiltrator unlocking the super heavy perk, standing on the flag and cloaking. Pathfinders zoom in to grab the flag and are kill instantly by an invisible wall.

I don't know how people are getting away with this. You always fire a disk at the flag to try and clear any mines or bounce off an infiltrator. I've been body blocked by Infs before Super Heavy was even a thing. I saw a guy do this on a stream last night and he was still having to finish people off with the SMG.

I guess what I'm trying to say is: you get my perk nerfed and I will cry :(

Hey, count me in on games, I'm Mephaestus. I played the shit out of the first tribes, and I wish broadsides was a thing in this one. After playing tonight though, I got the feeling that I playing against a few other players....and a team of bots? Did anyone else think that? They just gave me that AI feeling about them instead of being actual players, compared to folks who might talk in chat. I really love the mechanics, I felt right at home, but it's sad if so few folks are playing it that they filled the server with bots.

  • GarthorGarthor Registered User regular
There are no bots. Players just tend to be really bad.

The reason I tend to be in the top 3 of my team playing as a basic soldier because I keep throwing antipersonnel grenades and people keep running into them.

EXP is a mystery to me. It doesn't seem related to credits, and both are supposed to measure my performance.

  • GarthorGarthor Registered User regular
Credits are not meant to measure your performance. Regardless, you DO get a small amount of xp from credits (conversion seems to be something between 100 and 200 credits for 1 xp), but the majority of your xp comes solely from time played.

I am a complete noob to this and have been out of the loop.

I played Tribes 2 and Vengeance for a while and loved them both.

Is this game out yet? Or is it still in the beta? How can I play?

Ahahahahaaha I just came off a very awesome murder death spree on Katabatic. I've found my thing. On Diamond Sword, I grab a Beowulf and park myself on a very specific hill overlooking the flag stand. Whenever some punk-ass Light tries diving in, I just time it and fire a shot, usually one-shotting them or definitely knocking them off course. By the time the game ended, 27 of my 33 kills was done on the tank, the majority via that.

I can also do this on Bella Omega.

Taking miniature painting commission work! PM for samples, or check the art thread.

How useful are the lighter cycles? I assume you can't carry a flag and fly a vehicle at the same time, they're not that much faster than skiing and the constricted fire angle makes it harder to kill folks than being on foot. What's their purpose?
I've gotten a bunch of kills in the past using my Ranger's SMG on light vehicles, since they were much easier to lead and would consequently take massive damage.

    Uses for Light Cycles:

Cycles are useful for chasing cappers (sometimes). example:

Also if you put a heavy on the back of your Cycle you can become a death dealing machine (I haven't tried this but I'm pretty sure heavies can fire from the secondary position). Regardless it's a good way to get a juggernaught into position behind an enemy base very quickly.
