Does the forged document say anything substantially different from the real documents?
No. It's pretty much a summary of the others, as far as the facts it states goes. But who's going to care? It was forged! The alarmists are FRAUDS!!!!11!!
hahaah "Fake but accurate" defense, go!
It's not a defense of the action, but an assessment of how the forgery affects any conclusions about either Heartland or AGW, which is to say, not at all.
Most people who would have believed the forgery will believe what the forgery says regardless of what the rest of the documents contain. So, I guess you're right that it's not going to change a lot of minds. That's pretty fair, because a forged document shouldn't change any minds about anything.
The problem is the "fake but accurate" angle, where people say that yes the document was forged, but everything in it is true. At that point it's Rathergate all over again.

what's Eigenvector mean, for us dumb common folks?
If you take any square matrix (eg: a grid of numbers) and follow a certain series of steps you end up with a vector of the same dimension. EG: a 3x3 matrix turns into a 3 vector. If you followed the steps correctly that vector is the "eigenvector" (german for "characteristic vector") for that matrix.
That's all really.
Things get spooky when you realize how many weird applications there are for the eigenvector. All over the place in maths, physics, image processing, cryptography etc...
edit: oh and 3d graphics. All 3d graphics in a computer is really just matrix math. And eigenvectors turn up all over the place.

well the network still works. I haven't used their actual client for like 10 years (yay trillian).

If you say it out loud it sounds like "I Seek You!"
I don't know what either of those things are. Can I still call myself a nerd?

i thought it was a fake phone number because it was like, the wrong number of digits and she's like "no, no, it's my ICQ number, do you have ICQ?"
i didn't bother
And I don't think you're Jenny.
I thought you loved old stuff.
I used ICQ when I was 13 and met a man who was into BDSM and was telling me about it.
Haven't used it since.
Feral has only forgotten that he posed as a girl for years.
the "no true scotch man" fallacy.
I wonder if it was the same guy in my area with the "I BDSM" license plate...
If that was 1998ish or prior that would have been pretty cool.
it was the first popular IM client / protocol.
Maybe! I think the dude wanted to recruit me when I came of age.
i used it to communicate with my quake clan
Still using IRC, erryday.

we laughed, we cried, we punched mechs to death
Yeah, I spent an enormous amount of time on IRC in my teens. I tried going back onto the IRC channels a few years ago but it just wasn't the same.
