Clancy doesn't really do tension well at all. He's in that Sub-section of thriller that is Military Porn. Along with Larry Bond, Stephan Coonts and others. Having said that, I love me some Military Porn and it's related Sci-Fi sub-genre.

And on a personal note, I've been to a Clancy book signing and he's a jackass at them. I've done book signings with a couple of a couple dozen authors ranging from vanity press authors to real literature authors to New York Times best selling pulp.
A friend of the family got me one of those. I can't remember who it was by, but as someone who enjoyed Tom Clancy novels (I mean, as the literary equivalent of Steven Seagal movies), this book was fucking awful.

Actually, no, no cubes. But a kind of graphics that would work well with very limited budget to throw at art assets. Cel shading?

Didn't you post a video of minecraft in space, where you can like, build ships from blocks and stuff. Somebody did.

    Blockade Runner I think

    Maybe that was me.

Problems with that though: 1. Hella ugly. Hella ugly. For minecraft, the low-res textures do wonders with making the cubishness be a look.

Plus, cubes work for castles, not so much for spaceships. Also: It's just in space. I want planets!

During one game on Christmas Day against the Indiana Pacers, before the game, Larry Bird told Chuck Person that he had a Christmas present waiting for him. During the game, when Person was on the bench, Bird shot a three-pointer on the baseline right in front of Person. Immediately after releasing the ball Bird said to Person, "Merry fucking Christmas!", and the shot went in.

Can someone explain to me in a sentence or two about this recent ESPN thing? From what I gather, the NY Knicks lost some game and an ESPN writer put out a blog article entitled 'A Chink in the Armor'. Though the article didn't mention him specifically, there is a Taiwanese player on the team. The Taiwanese player says he wasn't offended by the headline and didn't think it was a slur. The ESPN writer was promptly fired. I can't find the original article online.

They can be pretty bad. And some of the authors will do things that turn them into veiled political rants.

I think I'm done being nervous. I usually get my nervousness out 24 hours or so before a big thing. At this point I feel like I have done everything I can, I'm qualified, I'm personable and hopefully I will be able to convey this in my interview.

From what I can gather, the article was an analysis of the weaknesses of either the team or the person. The person doesn't care, but many people of Chinese descent feel offended. The writer was promptly given a 30 day suspension.

Frankly is looks to me to be overblown in every way. A guy wrote an article with a dumb/offensive pun that was relatively tame, and was punished with something that's not unreasonably harsh. Basically everything worked perfectly except for the initial publication.

that is basically it. the editor was asleep at the wheel and the writer chose the worst noun they possibly could

It's more that he wants to play for another team, but his chink manager won't let him go.

Man, after Eddy has stated multiple times his sensitivity to racism against Asians it is pretty lame to start using racial slurs as a joke.
