Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it,
follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given
their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!

This game
No online pass, just saying.
Though if you buy it new you get golden guns.
I'll probably try to rent it though
so buy it instead of whatever sfxt is
If you are not, i think i heard it's a ps3 exclusive or something? this is baseless information, then i would say pass.
Not passing on it for a game I only want to run through the campaign on!
it is a pretty short campaign and I won't be playing co-op super often, probably
so 60 bucks for 6-7 hours(maybe a few more?) isn't worth it, to me.
Steaaaaaaam
no, the co-op is the reason to get this game.
From what i have been seeing the campaign is pretty good. Orikae was raving about it while we were skyping, but the co-op is boss as fuck man.
Boss. As. Fuck.
Also Boxart megaman and pac-man are reported as ps3 exclusive everywhere, so if you're getting the 360 version you are getting a game without some hilarious additions.
wait, no i don't
May god have mercy on your soul if I don't enjoy it as much as you do
I do base my purchases around what gets me the most entertainment for my dollar, actually
Steaaaaaaam
do you see how that is not a thing that is linked to time on a linear relation
it seems that you, orik, are pretty into this game. has Syndicate succeeded in giving you a visceral sense of manipulation of "reality" through digital means
i don't mean to sound so fuckin stilted like a robot, but man, i am drunk, it's late, and i feel like getting into pseudointellectual discussions about anything right now
But, it also has a really good left 4 dead style co-op game as well. now, as someone who has played over 100 hours of left 4 dead, and very little versus, i know i can get a lot of value out of this. I guess if you hate online games and what not, it's probably not for you.
I'm perfectly fine with this being a good shooter I play through then put down
yup
If I had a lot of excess cash I would happily buy Syndicate because I am sure it is a really great game and I would love to play it.
But as is, I have pretty limited funds for the next few months and would rather purchase something like Mass Effect which has a much lengthier campaign as well as multiplayer and will likely be replayed a bunch.
I am not so stupid as to say MORE IS BETTER ALWAYS but when I am working with what I got, the amount of time I get out of something definitely factors in.
Steaaaaaaam
Some of it is silly, like "box" over a cardboard box
But some of it is awesome, like translations of all the chinese characters when you're kicking it in Shanghai

in some ways, we are very different people.
Cause i almost bought the game when i saw that.
This is actually one of the things they showed off in the giant bomb quick look that made me want to play this
Like from "oh neat game" to "okay you have my attention sir" just because of that little detail
in motion, it makes for a very, very textured world, and it's less silly the more ubiquitous it comes
there's a designed hierarchy to the information popups that are attached to objects, and it's easy to find yourself wondering what the rss feed attached to a coffee mug might be
Oh goodness I'm pretty afraid to see what steam has to say about my left 4 dead play
So many wonderful nights/mornings spent shooting cars and leaving my friends to die
And i guess there is a pretty good single player deal attached?
e.g. hacking some grunt and forcing him to kill himself
to have the whole data thing applied pervasively throughout the whole world is pretty fuckin kickin
just makes me think that games can really achieve artistic credibility through exploration of the whole augmented reality thing
ME3 co-op (although we only have a demo to work from) or Syndicate's
Hopefully it'll be ok, because I was starting to get pretty amped for this anyway let alone with Orik saying this is better co-op then l4d

It's kinda apples v oranges thing.
Both are fruit, but are different flavours.
i've only had the demo of both thus far ( am however getting both of these games around the same time it seems) I will probably be playing a lot of both. but i can see me getting more game play out of syndicate's.
Honestly, EA should not have released both of these games so closely together.
this was not the best idea.
yeah. though if you don't like reading this ain't a game for you - destructoid's review seems to have been written by someone who wasn't paying a whole lot of attention to the paratexts, of which there are a lot
if you're not engaged, not looking for everything the world's trying to show you, then it's probably not going to be as good as i'm saying it is
but if you want to investigate the world around you and find hidden information in the data layer that connects to every object in this dystopian society then it is very evocative
btw calling it gibson-esque cyberpunk is a pretty severe misnomer. i don't think i know of anything (save some of the more esoteric bits of Spook Country and Zero History) that resembles this game in its treatment of technology, humanity, and unfettered capitalism
it's the first game i'd even consider calling good art
it's really weird to read what people who don't like/really play fighting games think about fighting games
this is in no way a dig at you, it's just that our perspectives on the game are completely different
I'm not super huge on competitive games at large really. it is why i don't tend to get games where the death match is the selling point. it is just not where my interests lie, even when i am good at it, i would rather either play single player or co-op games.
That said however, box art megaman looks amazing. like god damn.

Keeping your fellow agents alive while also keeping grunts at bay, breaching grenades, hacking armor and the general chaos made Hard the best experience so far. Expert must be insane.
