The article is sort of hard to follow - not the best written thing I've ever seen.

    But the content is semi-outrageous.

    Transparent partisanship is darkly amusing.

On a tangentially related note, anyone else ever felt that English-speaking observers tend to regard fellow countries in the Anglosphere rather worse than comparative economic data suggest, simply because they are more easily aware of their domestic disputes? Conversely we regard Scandinavia etc. rather more highly simply because their rhetorical hyperbole are less available to us and we see only their statistics.

Very likely, we do not lack in idiots and populists in our politics.

Yes. Also many smaller Euro countries have national languages largely unspoken outside of the borders. So the accounts of such countries will usually be written or authored by a native speaker, with little chance of a thorough external review or critique

I don't think there's a country which could claim otherwise.
    Well... they could certainly claim...

AKA the reason Hungary has been able to make big strides towards dictatorship and fascism without the rest of the EU really caring that much. At least not until this entire Euro crisis is over.

What does "accounts" mean in this context?
