Weirdest fucking time ever. Just because it's all ages? Christ.

Yob was really weird when I saw them. The guitarist has two stacks, so his sound is MASSIVE, but when he noodles up higher, the bassist doesn't have enough oomph to fill in the gaps. I'm really not that into doom metal shows though. It seems to be the only genre where I can go to a metal show and be the only metal guy there. Makes me feel like I'm the awkward kid in middle school again.

Got my tickets to Maiden. Floor. Excited.
And don't worry, I'll only mention it once this time.

They're doom metal on Profound Lore. I think you know what to expect.
That's pretty much doing them a disservice. They're not a typical Profound Lore doom band, at least not with his vocals.

I listened through three of the songs from the full-length and enjoyed them well enough. I like the mixture of the more old school doom vocals with the heavier crush of guitars that I normally associate with the more sludge side of the style, and lots of nice little classic melodies to break up the drudgery.
The new Lunar Aurora and Furia albums are decent, very atmospheric and I enjoyed the production. Not as inspiring as some of their earlier work, but worth hearing if you are already into their sound.
Yeah, the new Lunar Aurora is pretty below Andacht in terms of quality, but it's still great in that Germanic black metal way. Plus, it's basically a one-man-band at this point.
New Sigh is fun, yet I've been having a hard time trying to sit through the whole thing in one sitting. I tend to stop it and put on Scenes from Hell.

Someone I know just posted on fb saying "Metal was so much better back in the day" while linking a video of Cowboys From Hell. I'm not even going to bother.
edit: Holy fuck. There's a festival in Holland in August where the tickets only cost €6.66 (~$9) and currently the bill is Bolt Thrower, Hell and Obscura. It is clashing with my brother's wedding though so I can't make it

I kind of liked the vocal arrangements on that new Borknagar tune. Reminds me of The Archaic Course but with more layers.
New Spawn of Possession is fairly amazing if you're into surgical tech death. Almost like a brutal Deathrow (Deception Ignored), if that makes sense. One of my faves lately. Lot of variation, and surprisingly the production is not so polished as you'd expect. If not into the style, though, then I doubt it's something that will change your mind. I'll write that up, and the new Sigh next week.
Also #1: what the hell happened to some of the posters here like hanskey (sp?)
fallout stopped posting pretty much everywhere almost completely, and i realised i spent all my time in SE skimming posts unless i recognised one of like 5 people so stopped bothering
for the first time im waiting for Sigh to come in the mail instead of just grabbing it and it's kinda annoying
I'm digging that new Borknagar. I've been quick to forgive their overall disappointing output the last few times out as well though. Nothing they've done in awhile has been really great, but nothing offensive either. Just sort of there, hanging out, being Borknagar. I like this song a bit more. Hopefully the album will impress again like when I saw them live way back in '99.
Most ambiguously awful band name ever? Is hi-def color filtered video ruining our world? Though, I must give points for the bassist's cut-off gloves. I was rather fond of those myself when I was thrashing out.
Exciter discography is now reviewed, and I'll start Flotsam & Jetsam next week, placing my Doomsday... write-up in our new dad yakul's comments since I remember him covering that.
My Gothic Metal list for RYM is also organized and half the little blurbs already written, will easily make the end of March deadline I set for it. Combed through so much fairy metal that I felt the gates of Arcadia tugging at my tether, but I think I managed to include the ones that suck the least from that sector.
I hope you gave them a "you mad bro?" response, Tav. It's been so long since I've heard anyone say faggot, it would probably surprise me if I did.
Emmure are wow...I dunno, that's like the perfect distillation of everything bad about white, suburban American men. At least Symphony Cult have a pretty boy for a singer

What, you don't like Emmure, faggot?

That does seem like a very natural combination of those words. I have no doubt that an approximation of that sentence is said multiple times every day. While being masculine as fuck with their all-bro crew to show how hetero they are.
I think my favorite part of that video was him being a tough guy and the camera pulling back behind the guy looking bored playing on his smartphone.

I love Kezia and the band themselves are incredibly nice guys, but I'm totally indifferent to the last two albums which is what they seem to be basing their fame off. There was so much "Dude, do you like Periphery?""Bro, Periphery are so sick. Do you like The Human Abstract?" that I couldn't believe it.

All these shoe-gaze bands from France can fuck right off.

It normally ties in with venues being able to serve alcohol.
That is some fucking lineup for free though. Really hoping to see Yob and Pallbearer over here at some point.
Is Pallbearer any good?
Nothing stranger than leaving a show and stepping into sunlight.
And don't worry, I'll only mention it once this time.

Hrm, I'll give it a whirl.
New Christian Mistress album is out now too.

That came off overly snide. I really like Profound Lore.

Don't care much for the new Furia.
I really hope Malefic didn't end Xasthur to work on projects like this.

Add me to the list of people going to Iron Maiden this summer. My date happens to fall on my brother's 21st birthday.
In more awesome news, here's a picture of Devin, Meshuggah and Gojira
