I still need a gold mini myself. Is that something I'm just going to have to buy, or are there chances to get out of z-chests or upcoming holidays or anything?
The canthan new year was the last chance to get a gold mini from a holiday. No minis drop from the z-chest. Probably your best bet is to buy one, do wik and exchange for royal gifts, or rely on your birthday presents. You can probably buy a first year gold mini for fairly cheap these days.
Ok, yeah, my birthday presents are all gone. Ended up opening 25 gifts and no gold, lol. I see them in trade chat for about 40k minimum. Unfortunately, that's the total amount of cash I have, so I think the gold mini point may just have to go by the wayside.
That's about what I paid. I hadn't stuck around in Kamadan long enough to realize how much most of the crap I vendor could be sold for, thankfully I had some Golden Rin relics that fetch 30k for 3... Cash flow in GW1 is crazy, see people selling stuff for like 40e+.

Incidentally, for those desperate for that extra bit of cash or only recently back to the game, don't forget the free treasure money. Nothing like a freeish 20kish.
I looked for you when we started prepping for Sorrow's Furnace, but missed you. None of us had done it before, so our first challenge was getting the lead-in quests done. If you haven't done them yet, you might want to look into it, there's about an hour of quests that you have to do to even get in.
Well, I'd say those quests are really part of SF - you do the four dwarf escorts and their quests inside, each of which changes the mob layout and dungeon layout of SF, which then leads to the final quest. Only one of the quests inside is tricky (the one with the Priest where you have to protect him while running off), and that can be beat fairly easily with Heroes if you keep a pair of heroes at him while you go off to kill the next target (I left a minion master and healerish type), and just return as soon as you see your two guard heroes losing health. Takes a few laps back and forth between the priest and current target, but gets it done.
So, you can solo it if you need to Unlucky with just heroes, probably easier than the last few Nightfall missions.
Managed to finally get the last hero armors I needed last night (bought two primeval and farmed two more mysterious after working out a better hero group), so just need to cap off my phoenix and capture the black widow and i'll be done with the Companionship section.

Oh, also, I haven't gotten in touch with my benefactor from yesterday. Have I misidentified who it was? Thanks either way.

The Pre-Searing one?
I hear it's pretty tame now, since there's a daily quest for it? Whereas before you had to deathlevel enemy Charr heroes to give them levels, then get them killed by NPCs or your companion, just to get like 100xp again.
...and of course, as always, Kill Hitler.

I have yet to access the daily quests, they are locked to level 10+
My wife and I did LDoA a few months ago. It basically boils down to: Do the bare minimum number of quests to get out into the world, repeatedly do 'Charr at the walls' with Rurik, abandoning each time until you hit level 9, turn in all the quests to get to level 10, then do the daily each day.
All told I think it took us about 3 months total, missing a day here and there.

I think I read that even with the dailies you're looking at a two month effort, due to only getting to do the dailies... daily.

No mad rushes at charr bosses?
I've already done that a few times, it's fun
We'd kill them any time we found ourselves north of the wall, at least until we each had enough Charr bags to fill our slots.
At a certain point in time though, they aren't worth messing with. Also fair warning, the dudes in the daily can be pretty brutal. I hope you've got a fire imp.

They need to add that accessory to the HoM rewards.
Man you guys make this game sound brutal. It makes me excited about exploring how far down this rabbit hole goes. I'm just afraid I can't navigate my way around all the different systems and quest hubs to get anything good done. @_@

It can be. There's parts of this game that are just insanely tough, that take a lot of coordination and teamwork.
Overall though, it's not too cruel a game difficulty wise, unless you want it to be.
God I love this game.
Fantastic

Soloing Abaddon with heroes is fairly difficult if you don't have the right midline/skills for it.
But it's doable, once you understand what you're doing. Mostly about controlling your hench's positions correctly so they don't eat Torment Claw powerfists.

I took all ranged heroes and did it without too much trouble.

It seemed to be mostly about getting a set-up that you won't get Ether Feast tanked against. If they spam EF too much, you eat too many Words of Madness and your healers run out of mana.
I used the 7 player support setup on Abbadon and one shotted him, this is after failing the previous mission like 5 times during the final Shiro/Lich battle and having to eventually take Jora to do nothing but strip stances off Shiro.

i still have more dudes to do war in kryta on, screw war supplies!!
That's a lot of dudes who've finished the campaign Though I guess you can get through Prophecies pretty quick if you get someone to run you to the critical missions and skip bonuses.
Decided to do vanquishing in Nightfall for Sunspear + Lightbringer + Cartographer + Vanquisher titles, with some cash as a side bonus. Two down so far (smallest ones), but it's more fun than I thought it would be. Torn about whether or not to open the locked chests, at a 10% chance to retain the pick it seems like I should just hold onto the picks I find and sell them to players later (at 1.25k ea)

Unless you are going to work on the Treasure Hunter, Wisdom, or Lucky/Unlucky titles, I'd probably sell the lockpicks. Though I do enjoy the nice lottery feel of opening chests.

Shiro in Gate of Madness was incredibly annoying. I spent around 20 minutes trying to kill him accruing DP all the while, and eventually mastered kiting him so that he couldn't life steal since I didn't bring any stance breakers and it's damn hard to interrupt his other ability.
Compared to him, the Lich was a complete walkover.

This is one of the spots where I just can't do the wise thing. I love opening chests. I'll never open the, what is it, 10,000 chests required for Treasure Hunter to be HoMable? Similar insanely unlikely titles on the others.

Maybe I SHOULD stop using lockpicks, as I sit here and look at the numbers again. Ugh.

That's what's stopped me - I got two picks on my first vanquish and saw like three chests, so in my mind I was like 'Well I could start opening them and maybe get even more titles from vanquishing!'. Then I saw the numbers....and was like 'Weeeeeelll... nevermind'.

Naw, do whatever is most fun for you. I use my lockpicks all the time, because I love it when I get a neat gold out of a box. And the crushing disappointment of breaking your pick and getting an assassin tome is priceless.
My wife's going on a real tear at the moment. She's decided to go for God Walking Amongst Mere Mortals. She's already 80 or 90 skills towards the 290 for capping every elite, we're doing cartography, almost finished with the guardian and protector titles, and she's storing up Eye of the North hard mode books for a run at Survivor.
Besides the quests... is there anything to do, group wise, for lower levels? My monk is almost level 7, but not sure if my only choice is doing the story until max. level or if there is stuff in between.
