y'know, the ending really worked for me, i have to say
i went in with 50% readiness, a bar that was completely filled with assets but only half-green because of the readiness, and a 'poor' chance of success
no multiplayer, no extra shit, no real idea how galaxy at war worked (because i had no internet)
it's basically the original underdog story. and through defaultshep's playthrough the theme of necessary and inevitable sacrifice is pounded again and again. so when the final extremity is reached and there is one thing in front of you and it is a destructable power conduit and you have a pistol, well
time to empty that fucker into that conduit
nothing else to do
all of your heroic efforts and all those of the galaxy's near-infinite populations throughout history have left you just barely able to reach the finish line
i won't be able to say until i get to play through it and the trilogy a few more times, but i suspect default shep's ending is the one that works the best
So you know when you go into the geth consensus and see quarians, Shepard asks why s/he's seeing these ancient quarians wearing suits and Legion pulls out some bull about Shepard interpreting the memory cluster through her/his perspective, asking when Shepard has ever seen a suit less quarian, and Shepard's all like "point taken?"
What's the excuse when Shepard has romanced Tali?
Legion asks how many suitless quarians you've seen
Shepard says "Well... one."
And Legion says that that's not sufficient enough data for Shepard to have a mental concept of a suitless quarians or something
Fucking hell. I only grew more annoyed with every excuse.
honestly it is completely bizarre to me that they chose to not to show Tali's face at the end of Rannoch
I am having trouble understanding that decision
too much buildup i think
when you have people undergoing chemical analysis to figure out how her sweat would taste
the Illusive man's choice was paragon? man, I didn't see that coming at all
it was a tough call for me between killing synthetics or fusing us
and in the end I decided too much damage had already been done to galactic civilization, that we might never recover from what the reaper's did
and I
uh
didn't want to kill the geth
...
this is awkward
The fact that TIM's option was the Paragon option hung me up for a bit, and I went with Synthesis as well.
Then I figured "Fuck that, I'm Shepard, and I'm not going to turn everybody into a bunch of organic/synthetic hybrids without their consent, and I'm not a complete asshole like TIM anyway."
Reload, ASSUME DIRECT CONTROL, peace for all time and everybody gets to determine their own path in the galaxy, without outside interference.
I feel justified in my choice.

I'm prepared for y'all to tell me why I am wrong forever
The ending, no matter what you choose, festers. Destroy is best, I guess, since the whole indoctrination theory. But really, it's a shit ending. Picking the flavor of shit changes nothing.

same here
the difference between me taking control of the reapers and TIM taking control of the reapers is that It's Me Doing It. It's not a particularly good reason, but it works.
what kind of person would encourage edi and joker to bang
cmon son
she's the only person that could safely have sex with him. any clumsy organic body would accidentally crush his fragile frame.
But EDI, with careful movements and machine precision, well now that would be his only chance of ever getting laid.
What kinda terrible Shep wouldn't hook her bro up like that?

"peace for all time" and "self-determination" are mutually exclusive concepts
you should be ready to sacrifice much more than that to permanently end the reapers
Yeah I took that option right way
Sorry geth and EDI but I don't trust keeping the reapers around at all
Except you're killing an entire sapient species that just reached their true potential, and the AI who has saved your ass countless times.
Not to mention you're basically endorsing the Catalyst's view of organic/synthetic relations by doing so.
Besides, I'm not sacrificing an entire species and my best friend's love interest to save my own ass.
Sorry, Renegade ending, you and I will never be.
Ending spoilers
There is no indication that destroying reapers will save your bacon. Far from it, the Catalyst hints that because you're partially synthetic, you're putting yourself at risk.
Look, even if I didn't playfully ascribe to "Kill all Geths," they signed up to stop the Reapers. If you want to be non interventionists, fine, but the Geth showed up.

No?
Did you write the ending?
No?
Then you're probably in the clear.

I dl'ed it earlier today -- it's in .wav form for some reason.

why would I give the geth souls if I couldn't take them away
it's not killing all geth otherwise
but when
and when joker was trying to outrun the synthesis pulse
oh god

EDI and the geth die? deal w/ it
you should be ready to sacrifice much more than that to permanently end the reapers
and I'm done too now so I guess I can give my opinion
cmon son
you made the right choice, buggah boo
rannoch spoilers
because technically, you can't kill geths till they have souls
just take them offline
So, yeah, they're pretty dead.
Yeah I took that option right way
I was expecting the worst thing in the history of stories
but nope, I like it
