Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!

Giant Bomb: Great King Caravella won't leave you indifferent. So that just happened.

    Spoiler:

    more ending spoilers
    Spoiler:

    Again

for how bad that gameplay was

the ending made that whole game completely worth it

    super fucking interesting

    Although (more ending spoilerz)
    Spoiler:

It wasn't necessarily a good ending

it was just really interesting given how most of the game was

    just didn't expect it

Oh no I agree with you that the ending was good

it's just, only the York parts in particular. Everything else was too silly. York was silly too because of that above spoiler, but in a good way.

With Vinny at the helm of the greenscreen, even if they don't have a full out and out happy hour-esque couch setup I have faith it'll be crazy and dumb and awesome regardless.

Also one thing I get the feeling from is that even if this does break bad in about a year or so, we're going to get some incredible stuff in the upcoming weeks. All the stuff from Patrick is about winning us over, and he seems to be hinting a lot about how potentially big their budget increase is. So I expect them to go all out with the dumb, great stuff here in the future.

Next year's GOTY costumes to be designed by Stan Winston.

Also I think re: Giant Bomb and Gamespot co-existing

I think both sites are going for completely different audiences and they're probably going to take it even further in that direction. Gamespot is a lot more family-friendly, large-public, everyman's gaming site. Giant Bomb is for game-savvy adults. Different types of coverage and attitude.

Finally, I really hope they do a feature where they pretend to be horrible sell-outs and have tons of product placement and put out a 5-star Kane & Lynch 1 review.

Also they need to make a video where they drive to Rorie's house unannounced in a car full of puppies to offer him a job.

I was wondering myself if sellout jokes will appear at the start of the next Bombcast/I Love Mondays. Jeff has said they if all goes well they should be able to get straight back to work on quick looks and such.

However Kane & Lynch should be left in the past, now that Jeff has finally been able to speak about it.

    Spoiler:

Well the 'shooting dudes' stuff was literally shoved into the game at the last minute. SWERY's original vision for the game involved no combat whatsoever, he was forced by the publisher to shoehorn some combat in.

Alex was Tweeting that there's a CBSi office in New York, so he could go in and shoot video content if he wants.

    So be ready for that.

    Also, this is Alex's band.

I have a copy on my desk right now, I played about 10 hours of it. Despite how shitty most stuff about it is, I'm still insanely compelled to do the side quests to get all the secret stuff, infinite weapons and the like. Maybe even more so than most games, because 1 or 2 infinite weapons makes the shitty combat a non-issue.

Storage wars is just more terrible reality TV centered around conflict and convenient occurrences. Mythbusters is good, fun people doing good, fun things.

Well he was talking about why he got fired when he's going to be working for/with the company that fired him in the first place. I'd say some awkwardness is expected.

oh, definitely, I was just joking about Storage Wars since they've been talking about it on the last 2 podcasts before this most recent one.

I get nervous with them talking about Tested being Jaimie and Adam's site now on the podcast, because I'm just not very interested in those guys

Ah okay. Well, glad we agree on Storage Wars.

But honestly, Adam Savage is a really cool guy, and would fit in perfectly with people like us. I think Adam being on Tested is about the equivalent of Wil Wheaton being on those D&D Podcasts with PA/PvP. Jamie, on the other hand, should probably just go back to scuba fighting sharks in the South Pacific or something.

Yeah I couldn't put my finger on it but that whole thing had kind of a weird vibe.

Like I said, he's clearly not looking for people to hate Gamespot after all this. He phrased things in such a way to paint the right people (like the editorial staff) in the right light, and made sure and mention that the people responsible aren't there anymore and that it's not the same Gamespot he was fired from. He also had to balance the 'we're moving onto something greater' while at the same time placate everyone with 'but we're still totally our own site and nothing is going to change'

Sure and I don't know how well he knows the British guy so there could have been some of that going too. I'm glad they laid out the whole story about what happened with Jeff G and I hope people will chill out about that and the whole thing now. Let's not assume anything terrible is going to happen until it does.

see I don't think Jeff is acting awkward at all

the few times I've seen him interview about serious matters where he's not trying to slip a joke in there

    that's how that guy talks

he's just learned to think everything over twice so he only has to say it once.
