Wii U and 3DS Codes
This was us. We would tent/trailer camper camp all over the place. Though we never left the eastern seaboard states except for a trip to Tennessee once, and business trips with my dad to Mississippi and St. Louis (technically it was Illinois, but we went to see the arch). Historical sites were big, but also just to travel and enjoy different areas, like stopping in each state from NJ to Maine and back, and heading to Florida.
My wife gets car-sick, so unfortunately I don't see us doing that as much without causing her physical pain. She can't stand car trips that are over an hour. Two hours tops.

Hm. Are the hats randomized in Find Mii II? Because the top hat was the very first one I got.
Also, how do you find the key? Do you just pray a monster drops it on death?
Here we go!
First things first, learn to farm. Yeah farming sucks and is tedious, but it will save a lot of headaches in the future. Enemies come in four waves of four each. The first enemy you encounter is a little blue snake thing that drop from the sky. Kill all and pick up the hearts. Four more will spawn. This will continue two more times, a total of 16 snake dudes. My technique is to find a nice spot and let them come to you. Try not to jump as the screen goes up causing their drop pattern to change. Keep moving slowly ahead until more start to spawn. Kill them off and continue.
This four waves of four applies to a lot of enemies in the first area. The flying eyeball things do the same thing. Enemies will respawn once the hearts are gone; either by timing out or collection. Remember that if you want to get through a tough jump area without being molested. Make sure to kill every enemy on the entire first stage (that's a lot of farming). When you enter the final door, Pit will aim up and his score is shown. Earning 28k points gets you a second block of health. Earning 56k gets a third block. If you farm every enemy in each of the first three stages, you could get close to a fourth block. Points also get you chances at extra shot power. You probably won't get to level 5 power until the end of the game or into your next run so don't worry too much about it. But still...farm, farm, farm!
Be patient! Certain enemies take a lot of hits to kill (like the Grim Reaper), so don't try and Rambo them. Hang back, watch for patterns and take a single shot when you can. Don't be greedy, the game will punish you.
Weapon power-ups! Near the end of stage 1-3 is a training room. You have to last a preset time without dying to earn your reward. Jump on top of the door and fire up and left to get a free cheap victory. The staff creates a protective barrier, the fire arrow ups damage, and the bow increases range to full screen. Personally, I take the bow, but the staff is also a great choice. Save the fire arrow for last. These weapons only come into play once you have full health, so you probably won't notice the effect until you reach 2-1. They are also disabled in the dungeon areas (1-4, 2-4, and 3-4).
Don't buy shit until you can afford the barrel. This item allows you to store up to 9 of the restoration bottles (giving you one block of health upon dying). The feather saves you from a fall, but is a luxury item you buy later. In the dungeons you can buy a pencil and torch to help you get around the map. You can save money by using a FAQ or just fumbling around. Whatever works for you.
There is a room with ? pots in it. These pots contain hammers, hearts, and the God of Misfortune. Revealing the God makes you lose everything. It costs 5 hearts to shoot open a jar. There is a pattern to it, but I don't remember it. Save states wouldn't hurt too much here. If you manage to open every pot without revealing the God, you can open the last pot for a free treasure! (Barrel please!!)
Chalices of healing are placed at certain points in each level. They restore one block of health. Be careful though, if you enter a room next to a chalice, it will be gone when you reemerge.
Hammers are great for the dungeon areas. The release stoned soldiers that will help you fight the boss. More importantly, you can open paths that might otherwise be blocked off. The harp item turns enemies into hammers temporarily. Personally, in the early going I'd take hearts and kills over hammers. After world 2-1 and on, you can get hammers as you need them.
Once you get through the first world (1-1 through 1-4), the rest isn't that bad...WITH ONE EXCEPTION!
Know the face of your enemy. This is the single greatest nightmare in all of Kid Icarus. If this little bastard touches you, he will steal a weapon upgrade. Do whatever you can in your power to avoid him. They can't be hurt, slowed down, or bargained with. They're like the Terminator...that only makes one attempt at you and steals your shit. Watch out for the flying version in the World 3 areas. You've been warned!
So I hope this helps you out in your epic journey into the frustratingly fun world of Kid Icarus 3D. If you have any questions, feel free to ask away. I played the ever loving crap out of this game in 1986 (I was 10!) so I know a thing or two about how tough it can be.

Um...I pre-ordered the game from Amazon this morning. Any idea when I should expect the redemption code to be e-mailed to me?
No one knows. Best guess would be Friday.

Gotcha, just wondering how people are getting them so early.
Has anybody actually gotten it early? This is the first I'm hearing it.

Just going by MNC Dover's post from earlier.

3 games in 25 years. Huh.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was released eventually.

No they are not randomized. They show up on specific paths. However, if you're playing Secret Quest, specific paths have multiple hats so you'll have to go down that path again in another playthough to get the other hat(s).
Keys show up on certain paths. Rest assured that you won't ever "miss" getting the key. However, you'll definitely have to do multiple playthroughs to get all the keys. They may show up in place of a hat.
Locations (the little circles) you've previously been to are brown, black if you haven't. White circles are the ones you hit on your current playthrough.

1) Upper paths are easy while the lower ones are harder.
2) Go through every single route thrice.
3) Only worry about curse gas for buying a dispelling draft. Yeah, it's a little touger, but you're better off using Play Coins to hire more Miis. Just whittle the monsters down.
4) If a mummy shows up, always go after the mummy. If two mummies show up, go after the bigger mummy. Mummies have healing powers (including resurrection) and can scare off your lead Mii.
5) If you have a mummy and a reaper, bring backup to clear curse gas or if your lead Mii gets scared off.
6) If it's a room with a status that requires specific-colored Miis, it's usually a mummy or reaper or both that you'll have to fight after clearing the room status.
7) Make sure to always hit 1,000 steps per day so you can get your 10 Play Coins. My quick protip is to shake your 3DS lengthwise, like you're shaking a soda. I found that twisting your wrist to shake it or waving it like a fan doesn't work as well to rack up steps.

Better than having to wait until Sunday, especially since I can get release date shipping from Amazon. I actually can't remember the last game that Nintendo released on Tuesday. Last game to get a Friday release here was Star Fox 64 3D.

I do wonder when more of the console games actually start hitting (assuming they do) how it will effect sales of the handheld stuff and how many people will actually go back and play the handheld versions.
I added a link to the KI:U thread into the OP.

As much as I'd love to see SNES games on the eshop, the GB and GG games do make a lot more sense considering the 3DS is a handheld.
But Mario RPG, Super Metroid, All Stars, DKC 1,2, and 3, A Link to the Past...I don't think I'd ever leave the house without my 3DS if we got these games.

eShop has been shaping up very nicely with a couple must-haves, a couple B-tier games to choose from, etc.

That's true. It would be really crappy of them to make you buy the same game again.
And come to think of it, I have a lot of those games on my Wii too as well as the SNES copies. But I need them to be portable.
Now $30 at BB:

Edit: My bad. Forgot that this wasn't the KI thread.
I would LOVE Wii-3DS virtual console accounts to be tied, so that I can play the same games on both systems. I have noticed that I am a lot more willing to spend money on virtual console titles for my 3DS, simply because of the added incentive of it being very easily portable, but having it also on my Wii would be very nice.
Moreso, I would really just enjoy having the SNES/NES games available on my 3DS. I don't have time to sit down and play games as much anymore, I am more on the move, etc. But being able to sit back and load up Super Mario World? Wonderful.
