is the expo hall larger than last year?

  • TopherRocksTopherRocks Rockstar Beard Grower Kent, OH or Long Island, NYRegistered User regular
Shouldn't be. As far as I know they added one theater and they upped the number of passes available this year but I don't think they can make the hall larger.

I went to BCEC today and walked around there to show my girlfriend it. It got me even more excited for Pax. :)

The space used for the expo hall is larger. There's a TON of potential expo space still not used. Last year there was a giant area just for people to sit and eat, that could all theoretically be expo at some point. Basically the tabletop space got shoved over some, and the Q room might get moved around, but yeah the expo hall is definitely bigger than last year's.

They could move those huge walls back!? Woah. I'm actually a bit scared now to see it this year. I was thinking about how much wasted space it seemed like there was last year. The ice cream trucks were pretty cool though. It reminded me of a carnival.

I think there's a bit of communication issue here. TopherRocks seemed to be responding about the Convention Center as a whole, not the Expo Hall.

Anywho, so the Expo Hall is using more floor space, but are they also allowing more exhibitors? Or are you basically just making room for more bodies?

The expo hall is using more floor space, and made room for more exhibitors. Also, remember that those walls can be retracted, hence the extra piece on the bottom left side. It will make sense once you see it (or if dya does his awesome maps soon).

I didn't even put that together when I saw the bottom left! Holy crap. I can't wait to see this for real.

When you see the bottom-left portion of the map you get what Tycho meant by "20% larger".

yeah I experienced their pax demo then the beta months after but looks like 2012 pax east is going to have a ton of blockbusters. Its possible that their could be games press won't know about at the convention like Darkness 2 last year. Capcom better have re6 if they had gameplay footage in the trailer no reason they couldn't have a portion of that ready for Pax East. Plus the expo is bigger compared to last year yehhhhh.

There's plenty of reason, actually. Incomplete A.I., whole missing portions of levels, missing textures, bugs everywhere, framerate issues, lack of weapon balance, and a bunch of items that may not make it into the final version of the game.

It's easy to pick and choose what you want from a video. "Hey, those three seconds look really good, stick them in there. OH! No, skip that part."

A demo? You have a LOT less control over. I highly doubt we'll be seeing a playable form of Resident Evil 6.

Yeah I know that but when press was getting hands on with games people want to play behind the scenes of games at the show that were not available to the public felt like an injustice to fans attending. Why couldn't more devs have stuff ready for pax attendees I know there are people buying passes probably expecting GTAV, SONY exclusives, RE6, etc. to be shown than NOPE get complete opposite. But seriously there were like a ton of games coming out like a month or so from Pax East last year where I was expecting Infamous 2 or uncharted 3 at the sony booth last year and we just got Socom 4 while SONY had all this stuff at SXSW. This year SONY has StarHawk coming out in a month or so and of course had a huge showing at sxsw for VITA and they couldn't bother to show up @PAXEAST? WTF! Which makes me feel like XBOX & PC dominate the EAST show while SONY seems to have more of their product at the WEST show. Still Crossing my fingers though that we see a hidden gem like Darkness 2 booth last year. Overall I'm sure I'll leave PAX EAST 2012 satisfied anyway if I can make it to most of the booths, panels, and events I plan on.

    [x] Ride Booked
    [x] 3-day Pass
Will be more prepared than ever for the show than the previous year. XP!!!!!

I saw that, but why are they there? I am unaware for any reason for Chevy to be at a gaming convention. Are they doing something interesting with in car technology integration they want to show off?

  • RhileyRhiley Registered User regular
Doesn't Chevy do a lot of Microsoft X-Box live cross marketing? It has been a while since I fired up my xbox but I seem to recall seeing a lot of free game dlc from them.
