My animé phase gateway drug was Pokémon in the 90s. Both the show and the game facinated me. I was a year or two above their target audience but I just plain didn't care because I was already a social outcast by that time because I was different and awkward.
Then I saw the 80s classic Project A-Ko and that hooked me into Japanese animation from ages 14 through 19 (up through about 2003). It's been a long time since those days. It won't be long before I can look at all of 2000-2010 through nostalgia goggles.
Pokemon and Dragonball (Z) were as involved as I ever got with watching anime, which is to say not that involved to begin with. I was totally obsessed with the first generation of pokemon stuff however. I played the red and yellow versions religiously, snap and stadium on the n64 (the latter being my friends' preferred way to duke it out with our gameboy pokemon), collected lots of the trading cards (including several of the japanese packs), watched the show and first movie, all that shit. Then I got silver and managed to get halfway through the game till my interest in the franchise died off. Briefly got into the series again when the gold/silver DS remakes were the hot new thing and then (fittingly) haven't bothered again since.
I also had a brief obsession with Digimon - both the tamagochi-like toy games and the early totally-not-ripping-from-pokemon anime and related merchandise.
Eisen was arrested on February 10, 2005 on a felony charge in Orange County, California for having sexual intercourse with an underage girl. He was released on bail after only a few hours in custody. Just two weeks later, on February 24, 2005, Eisen was arrested again in California by New Jersey detectives for the alleged kidnapping and sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl from Sayreville, New Jersey.

A friend of mine had two furbies, and she paid the price for her hubris
One day she left the two of them facing each other in her room and when she returned later... they both had their mouths locked open, just going "UNNNNGGGG" in a low, constant rumble
She removed the batteries and put them away forever
Heh, I was born in '74 so I got the full brunt of the 80s growing up. I would post a pic like Drus, but I pretty much burned all the evidence a long time ago.
The 1980s is a time I look fondly back on with great nostalgia. Some of my most favorite things came out during this era--Nintendo (or at least videogaming in general for me), TransFormers, DuckTales (which introduced me to all the awesome old Disney comics)...
Most of my favorite movies came out in this era--Ferris Beuller's Day Off, Big, The Karate Kid, The Goonies, Ghostbusters, Indiana Jones, and the greatest one of all...

I had a digimon, but it would always get to the point where at higher levels it would get too hungry too quickly and it would always die.
I love that the bad guys existing is entirely their fault for asking a ghost (?) for superpowers.

mystery solved
They're still together and supposedly putting out another album sometime?
