Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it,
follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given
their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!

Well put. This is also correct.
The theaters here do Tuesday cheap deals, and if its the first Tuesday of a newly released movie, if possible, it will only be shown in 3d/IMAX/ULTRA-AVX. So if I want to see a new movie in just a regular theater and get the Tuesday deal I have to wait longer.

...and the girl with the tattoo (Rooney Mara) has a nice bootay.
Probably the best example I've seen of how "action" doesn't mean parkour, "conflict" doesn't mean gunfights, and "movement" doesn't mean car chases. Hell, it even manages to sneak in a "science fiction" doesn't mean aliens and spaceships.

I dunno, man. Can't we always use more "comedies" with irredeemably awful people doing awful things and getting away with it scot-free?
I also like Judd Appatow movies.
I used to love Adam Sandler movies.
And now I wonder where Luke Wilson went off to after doing those AT&T commercials.
Wasn't it delightful though? Think of all the carefully rendered aliens that you couldn't really look at properly because the 3D made it impossible without getting a detached retina! Think of all that jumping that just wouldn't have been the same! Who wants to see 2D jumping? Suckers, that's who.
It depends.
Adam McKay and Judd Apatow's stable of writer/directors seem to be able to routinely do this with little issue.
Todd Phillips seems to think that movies are some kind of contest to see how much money you can earn doing as little work as possible.
I seem to think Phillips revels in a certain type of anti-social, misanthropic character more than other people that came up working with those groups. Paul Feig seems to have a sense of heart; Phillips doesn't.
Right. Phillips just goes, "Hey, look at these horrible people! Aren't they funny because they're so horrible?!" and stops right there.
As well (and I've mentioned this elsewhere) Phillips has used the same lazy writing crutch in four movies now: the roap trip. It's what bad writers default to when they just want to show an unrelated series of absurd events without having to tie it into a greater story. What's worse, the last time Phillips did this he couldn't even be bothered to write a new script.
It's Tarsem Singh, so I can't really help myself. I may bring my iPod, however.
Well. I was hungry every time they did a food-porn closeup on the sushi being put on a tray. Lots of "This man really enjoys making sushi" and "His sons, the poor bastards, they'll never be perceived to be as good" and "Work hard at what you love to do". Not a whole lot of insight into anything else. It was alright.
Ugh that looks so bad
Phillips' movies suffer from his notion that completely reprehensible characters are endearing and engaging if, at the very last moment, you find out they have a tragic past, even if that tragedy plays no real motivation in their behavior.
I fully expect his next film to feature a character that pulls kittens in half while screaming, "My parents died in a tragic explosion!"
Not a dry eye in the house.
I know. I'm really hoping for something else.
Yeah. I'm waiting for Snow White and the Huntsman. That looks like a good Snow White adaption.

The original teasers, I was like "ugh" and I still can't get past the casting of Kristen Stewart
But the newest trailer, I have to admit, it looks pretty entertaining
Also, the screenwriter from Drive is a co-screenwriter for it, so uh, there's that
Xbox: UnbreakableVows | PSN/Wii U: UnbreakableVow | 3DS: 1521-3241-9354
25% of the current trailer (to my recollection) features a dwarf hitting someone with various items.
You must be hoping very, very hard.
I'm down to crossing my toes. All my fingers are broken from all the crossing.
Also, my feet are remarkably dextrous.
Not too surprised.

Not to sound xenophobic, but Tarsem's movies tend to follow a trend of being extremely nice to look at while having very little concern for the story being told that not at all uncommon with films from India and Russia. He reminds me a lot of Bekmambetov, actually.
If he could get a great script, Tarsem would be the next big whatever.
seems to be the opposite reaction from audience reviews so it looks like a pure effects movie that you can get drunk and watch with friends. Not much more.
Oh well, it's this or 21 jump street.
I don't think a lot of directors can tell, though.
It's a problem you see even with people like Spielberg.
21 jump street is a great comedy, seriously
I dunno, I really liked the movie, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I've always been fascinated with the legend of the Titanic, and I'm a fan of the time period. And I guess I'm a romantic.
The Ferquinarium <-- (don't click; finding new host)
The film makers refused to take this scene out, and instead flew some executives out to his hometown and donated £5000, which considering the money this film made, in addition to the actual amount (honestly, how much money did the executives spend going out there?), I find to be pretty insulting.

Actual Play: Mage: the Awakening - At the Edge of All Things (updated 5/28!)
With Eddie Murphy as the third brother.
I must admit that this is so mindblowingly dumb, that I can't help but be fascinated by it. I hope it actually gets made and released. The chances of it not being a trainwreck are slim to none, but I'm sure it will be glorious.
That was such a surprising thing to hear after it came out, basically universal praise for what looked like the worst cash-in idea I'd ever heard.
I think I'll catch it this weekend, actually.

I can't decide how I feel about the two trailers. I thought it might be a bit more of a parody, instead it looks more like a science fiction-y twist on the cliche.
