Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!
So, Friday/Saturday/Sunday* is here and you've entered the Convention Center main floor. The wealth of PAX East is before you and you have hours/days* to explore this wonderland.
So, the question is... where are you going first?
Me and the wife... we're first-timers so we'll be interested in what (if any) consensus there is - right now we're planning on hitting up our favourite gamedevs in the exhibitor area.
If it's Friday, then straight to the Keynote line. (unless that doesn't interest you)
Otherwise straight to the expo floor to line up for any must see demo or grab some piece of swag, then head off to whatever panel or freeplay area grabs your interest.
My first year I got really overwhelmed with all the stuff to see and ended up wandering about the expo hall and the convention center.
Get a schedule and pick a few panels to attend. The Q&A's are always fun. Make sure to hit the tabletop/console/pc freeplay areas, whichever one strikes your fancy.
I'll probably just hit up the expo first thing, then maybe try and get into PA Q&A One if any space is left. If not I'll just wonder about the con for a while!
Where am I going First? Probably a quick spin of the expo floor to see whats up then a smoke outside, then back in to go to whatever caught my eye on the quick spin. Its how I've always done it.
First thing I'm aiming to do is just walk around and refamiliarize myself with the place. Maybe stop by some of the booths if something leaps out at me.
Since we're hitting Sunday only, no scarf for us. Given my son (7) will be there for his first PAX I'm sure the expo floor with first stop Nintendo or Behemoth. Band Land to meet Jonathan Coulton will be pretty high up on the list as well.
Same plan as last year for me. Right to merch booth line to make sure I get a scarf, and then from there right to the line for the Keynote/Q&A.
Same. I found it was hard to get a 4x large shirt of the event. I heard some would arrive every now an then throughout the weekend but... Also, the scarves. I have not seen or heard about them for this year though, but that does not mean anything
Are scarves available by default every year at East (in limited quantities of course)? Like, there's no that-year-only merch like they have at Prime that gets announced around this amount of time beforehand?
Anyway, probably gonna grab a scarf, get the PA character pack from Robot Entertainment, find devs/pubs hosting parties and getting wristbands/name on list/etc to get in, and then checking out the BLands 2 line first and going from there.

Well there have been 2 easts, and 2 exclusive scarves. NO clue about this year yet.
I do not know how to "Go North"
You are in a dark room.
So, the PAX merch booth may be a contender for first stop. And yes, the keynote address is definitely tagged on Guidebook (both on my smartphone and tablet!)
It'll be my second PAX East, but I'll be traveling with a friend and it'll be his first so his interests will matter. If there are scarves, *I* will want one of those right away. Second choice will be some Expo Hall wandering. Since the first panel I'm interested in is at 2:30, that's plenty of time to wander around and enjoy.

Once I'm off shift though I'll probably cruise the expo hall and make a note of things to come back and see when I have a little more time.
