I thought Thor was dead. Again.

I've been following Journey into Mystery, and I would have thought they'd mention the return of Thor.

    1) who's Nova?

I guess that's really all I wanted to know.

    New character

probably Sam Alexander, as in the new USM cartoon since he is definitely a teenager.

Ha, they forgot to change Valkyrie's font in one speech bubble.

So Morrison just knocked the finale to Action Comic's origin arc out of the park. Completely makes up for the random filler issues.

then the next two pages are just silent shots of Superman flying with a giant grin on his face

    Especially the last page.

I mean, I know Superman has to put on a different type of look to fool people into believing Clark and Supes are two different people, but he did not have to go full retard.

My moment of the week? Wolverine and the X-Men.

"Don't you ever say bad things about Kansas!" (attributed to Genesis before beating the crap out of alien casino guards).

    I fucking love this book.

Daredevil being awesome in Hulk #50 (He's training with Spider-Man and Iron Man when Rulk drops by). I'll try and take some pics and upload them later.

I mean, DD 10.1 was great. However, DD being awesome in Hulk was a welcome surprise.

Such an insane fucking twist to wind up the last part of the main story arc, and it all makes sense in-universe

god i cannot wait to see how this thing ACTUALLY ends

Well first of all Arivia is the best PAer, for the Avengers vs X-Men code.

Secondly, Avengers vs X-Men #1 Cyclops makes the first move
    0Z42F.jpg

Also, in Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #9, it has almost become the Prowler book, but thats alright! Prowler tries to fight off the New Scorpion with some left behind gadgets.

OMAC #8; OMAC battles Cadmus, inside President Lincoln's head! Max Lord declares, "Checkmate!" Brother Eye blinks! It's all here in this sense-shattering conclusion!
    WgWQy.jpg

This was a bit of a disappointing issue to end on, but the art was just as gorgeous as ever. Giffen renders a clearly Kirby-inspired monster in this book, that's just beautiful.

Thunderbolts #172; Literary man-beast v.s. mythological giant! Human jet v.s. technological spirit! Fixer v.s. Fixer! It's past v.s. present in this, the latest chapter in the Thunderbolts time-twister!
    LfTxa.jpg

I loved the way Shalvey drew this gag. The way present-Boomer's looking in the bag, even as he's being carted off by Moonstone, is great. Love the use of blank, white space on the second page, too. It actually had good build-up too, as Boomerang's been complaining for the past several issues, about how he's running out of Boomerangs, and would soon be useless.

Also, it's worth pointing out that past-Boomerang totally has Boomerangs on his costume. Are they just decoration? Did he forget? I need to know!

Fatale #4; Hank Raines has the worst day of his life, just as detective Walt Booker decides to turn his around.
    RzpbR.jpg

I'm glad I stuck with this for one more issue, because this one really turned me around on the series. We finally got a little more of the Lovecraftian horror I'd been looking for, and Booker's apparent heroic turn means that we might get a hard-nosed, badass protagonist, that Brubaker writes so well in Criminal.

    I'm hesitantly optimistic and intrigued.

Danger Club #1; What happens when all of Earth's superheroes leave to face a galactic threat, leaving their sidekicks behind to police the planet? Chaos!
    e7QsB.jpg

I said it in the Indie thread, but I really enjoyed this book. It might not be everyone's cup of tea. I could see the violence being a turn-off for some people. But, the idea of a ravaged world, being protected by a multitude of kid sidekicks, is definitely a neat idea, that I want to see explored.

I do wish that Kid Vigilante, the faux-Robin of the book, would have shown a little more regret over punching his old friend's face off. I mean, it's implied that Apollo's killed some of his other friends, so it's no surprise that he's pissed. But, I think it would have given the moment a little more of an emotional punch. The most interesting enemies, are always the ones who were great friends once.

Solid book, though. Go try it out on Comixology, if you're interested.

Tattered Tales of the Quarter Bin: Thunderstrike; When near-sighted architect Eric Masterson calls upon the power of his mystic hammer, he becomes the hero, Thunderstrike! Don't miss the first explosive issue, of what's sure to be a long and glorious run!
    Pna5r.jpg

All joking aside, I kind of enjoyed this. It's not as entertaining as some of the other 90's stuff I've been reading, but Ron Frenz and Al Milgrom's art has a very John Romita Jr. quality to it, that I find appealing.

Wolverine and the X-Men #8; Beast proves that love conquers all-- even the cold vaccuum of space!

No scan, because seriously, go buy the book!

Next Week: Munch posts moments of the week, sans bombastic flim-flam! Don't you dare miss it!

I didn't think about until you mentioned it now Munch, but you're right, that's a masterful inversion of who we thought the hero and the villain would be in Fatale.

A quick glance at my Essential Marvel Handbook reprints says yes, all seven of those boomerangs on his costume were actually usable. Apparently he also had boot-jets in that costume that he sometimes used as offensive weapons.

I thought my LCS didn't have any more copies (they at least order 1 of everything, they were getting an extra copy of Northanger Abbey above the one from little old me) but I went to the counter and it was their featured new comic of the week.

My favourite Boomerang appearance remains that issue of Sensational She-Hulk where she provokes him and the Ringer into fighting each other by pointing out they're basically the same villain. "You both just throw things."
