does anyone have advice on beating 3gate void ray all ins? I've seen 4 in the last 2 days and I knew it was coming every single time but I can't beat it. if I make lots of marine the stalkers kill me with no stim. if I tech I don't seem to have the units to kill the void rays. bunkers are worthless (as they can be focused down really fast OR ignored with high ground warp ins)

Pull your command centre back into your base and treat it like a blink all-in except don't make marauders. in order of importance
-rush for stim
-make some barracksi n the back of your base in case the front ones go down. aim for 5-6 raxes in total.
-If he warps in stalkers on the highground swarm them with SCVs - don't let him build a critical mass of stalkers.
-when it comes time to go for the void rays (if you manage to finish stim or build up 20ish marines) pull all your scvs to tank the stalker shots while your marines focus the void rays.

Isn't 1 rax expand the hard counter?
2 Rax expand is the hard counter.
Only way I've ever held it with a 1 Rax is Bunkers at both the ramp and the cliff edge, which isn't viable on maps with long cliffs. No clue what to do against it on Cloud Kingdom, TDA, etc.

when facing most Protoss 1base all-ins, as soon as you realise whats happening (if you know he hasnt' expanded) just pull your CC back into the main, even if you're confident in holding it off. You don't lose much, and keeping the command centre and all the scvs alive is more important than mining from the natural in the short-term.
Speaking of 1base Protoss, I tried the 1base robo PvZ build aka the "Lobber" build. It's basically a 4gate robo with immortals and a warp prism that hits before 10 minutes (9:30 supposedly). Shit is way too good.

edit - I didn't stay up last night because I had to write and give a presenation today, ended up being disappointed by both forgg and polt (although I really feel like polt played well enough to advance so I don't mean disappointed IN polt)
tonight MMA and Nada !!! not to mention squirtle, fresh off his incredible success at ipl4 and the one and only Leenock, one of very few zerg hopes this season.
edit - so many types of losses in this game are painful. 35+ minute tvz where you actually think you're doing damage? ouch. 12 minute tvp where you hold off aggression and move out with a massive army and look away as you get stormed? ouch.
make 3 spines and no units and marines drop into your base? that probably hurt for that dude too.
Kambing, not sure if you'll catch this, but I've been working hard to not let myself ever have idle larva
I felt like a macro king (MONEY IS SO LOW) until I realized I kept forgetting to make drones. Oops. Should I constantly be checking my saturation on all bases?

if you can spare the actions to do it, sure.
Generally I have a pretty good feel for when my workers are saturated and so I don't count my workers
but if you want to, ctrl click a worker. a saturated base should have two full rows + 4 (+2 invisible nonselected ones inside your refineries)

I generally just look at my mineral lines and look to see if I have any drones awkward trying to mine (because there's too many)
if there is, I transfer a few and tell myself that that mineral line is saturated, but it's probably not a very good method to do it
No swarm host is probably a fucking fine idea, okay? Free melee roaches to hold up a Terran army so that zerg can actually do shit around the rest of the map other than slowly die to infinite drops is a fucking fantastic idea.
You know what's really shit though? Posting about how stupid those diehard BW fans are for just wanting sc2 to be 3d brood war, then turning around and saying you want lurkers and carriers instead of this newfangled imaginative shit.

it's funny to think that we could really know how these units could possibly be used. not only are they not final but like... the game has changed so much since launch.
Man I thought 10 gateways was a pretty excessive amount of gateways
But it turns out 15 gateways is even better! It's almost like being a zerg!
On 3-4 base I usually end up with 16 up to 20+ gateways depending on how crazy I feel.
It is just cool to warp in that amount from a warp prism in somebodys base if you are already ahead and want them to rage quit.

I often see 3 guys on the nearest mineral patches, and that is just way overkill.
So you could, in theory, have 3 on every patch, + guys running around in there.
Kind of like what they're doing to the Ultra, but, you know, useful.
HOTS looks great. Eating peoples bases with Nydus will be awesome.
