this is how tumbles sleeps. when it's cold she sort of tucks my feet there in between her folded up blobbiness. the great part is i don't have to wear socks or slippers during the winter.

every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.

he died 10 years later. i still get teary when i think about it.*

*edit: this was 12 years ago. gosh it has been a long time.

I am probably going to go to a flower store and buy a big bouquet of baby's breath and leave it where Winston fell in a couple of months. It'll be the one year anniversary of his death. He loved baby's breath.

The first of the two cats we have had was a nice cat.

Or, well, no he wasn't really. But I liked him a lot. He liked me too.

But I don't get teary eyed thinking about him because I'm not a pussy.

I still miss my first Scottish terrier, Mac.

He was my first dog. He cared little for people, was super independent. Didn't like most people holding him. Loved to pick fights, only with dogs bigger than him. Could bend metal rat cages with his jaw and was just awesome.

Like when my friends and I were together he was with us. Mac liked being one of the boys. He went on adventures with us. Played with us and was our constant companion. He was an amazing dog. But when he turned 7 he was having some problems urinating so we took him in. Mac had late stage bladder cancer and they gave him 6 months to live. In usual Mac fashion though he lived for 2 and a half years never missing a beat. Still fighting, hunting and being one of the boys.

The day he died he went out on the deck to watch the sunset and just laid down and passed on. Coolest fucking dog ever.

That's an awesome way for him to go.

Our cat just seemed to get sick with somethin' that didn't pass and then he disappeared one day, going to die alone as cats do.

so far the pet death that has hit me hardest was duke, tumbles' brother:

    293525_2358521613453_1562668022_2530031_323369260_n.jpg

he was a super rad dog. my best memory of him is one day i came home from school and no one was there so all the lights were off. i started to walk into the kitchen when i slipped on an (unseen) puddle of duke's pee. i went totally airborne, toes in front of my eyes, and hit the ground hard. so i'm on the floor, breath knocked out of me, in tears. duke walks over and puts his tail between his legs, lays next to me, and licks the pee out of my hair until i recover.

    i miss him. :(

tumbles is my last real memory of him. they're from the same litter, and she's past 13 now and not in great health.

I DON'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT THIS ANYMORE.
