Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it,
follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given
their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!

Arrrrrr ... err, I mean, press "R."
Or, alternatively, there is a rest button in the inventory menu.
Me blogging about my (amateur) indie game programming
I found it 2 hours later on level 4.

- Don't worry too much about party configuration. 1 melee character to focus on evading, 1 melee character to focus on protection, 1 ranged character, 1 magic character. Bam. That'll get you through everything.
- The first 6 floors are taxing, things get easier later when you have skillpoints under your belt and decent gear.
- Look for secrets, there are dozens and they contain ammunition, gear and consumables. The more you find the easier things get.
- Use consumables. There are a lot of them to be found and they make life a lot easier. Do not hoard, the game isn't that long.
- Ice magic is cheap: the third spell freezes things. It makes life a hell of a lot easier.
- Save frequently: ambushes and traps are frequent and fatal.
- Fall down every hole: there's a ton of loot to be found at the bottom of pits.
- You can return to previous levels and there are waaay too many torches in the game. Don't keep 20 in your inventory.
- Don't worry about food, there's plenty to go around. There are 2 spots in the game (levels 6 and 9) with respawning monsters that drop food.
- Don't worry about levels, kill everything you can but bear in mind you can grind xp in levels 4, 6 and 9 (infinite monsters spawn).
- Queue up spells before fights by activating the runes, but not clicking the cast button.
- Only characters that contribute in a fight get xp: make sure everyone does damage.
- Pressure plate behind doors usually lock them and unleash hell on you: throw a stone on them to see what they do BEFORE you step on them.
- Go through every teleport you see, activate every switch you can, check every wall for a hidden button.
- Read every note and scroll: most give hints to secrets or puzzles.
- When new monsters appear in areas you cleared it could be because they came from new areas. Check around, see where they came from.
- You can drop things to pick up later. So fill containers with supplies, drop them near stairs/crystals and mark them on your map as a supply cache for later.
- Keep moving: don't stand in front of monsters and slug it out. Attack, move away, repeat.
- Don't drop monsters down pits. You don't get xp and now they're sitting down the hole waiting for when you fall down next time.
- Spellcraft has a Light spell that makes torches useless. There is Mage gear in the game that glows as well, making the light spell useless.
- Do not give your characters a mix of evasion and protection. Stack one of the two, it's better to specialise than to try and cover both

Let me guess, was it the
Yup! I don't even have a mage, either, so there was no reason for me to want to pick up a spell scroll.
I don't usually need torches either but you can bet I pull every one out of its sconce and drop it on the floor just in case. Same for weapons I don't care about in alcoves.

e: did find a sweet serpent bracer though
goddamn spiders
Remember the torch puzzle at the beginning of the level?
Edit: Also, you won't take damage at 100% resistances, but you still can be hit at 100+ evasion (not sure what evasion number you actually need to be unhittable)
It is also possible to achieve >100 evasion and 100 resist [to at least fire/cold/shock]
I also thought that sleeping would be a great idea. Woke up to Kalia and Morning bleeding rather heavily.
This game is fantastic. I am just starting Floor 3 and am utterly in love. The gameplay is just the right mix of classic, the art is gorgeous and a special shoutout to the sound design - the ambient (and sometimes not so ambient) noises of the dungeon are amazing and really add to the immersion.
I definitely did not put enough thought into my party. May have to reroll eventually. TNTrooper's - my Minotaur warrior - accuracy (2) is terribad. He's not hitting anything. Thank God Kalia (my Mage) is freezing and burning everything in sight.
Great job, Almost Human. Great job.

I tried that.
Also, fuck trails of thought. I mean, I know what I need to do but I can't be bothered to do it.
e: derp, I did it, got the key and went down the pits. Now I have to redo the entire puzzle to get back to the locked door I didn't bother entering.

Also, are there any more wands in the dungeon besides the one you nab back at level 1? I'm on level 7 now and I have yet to find a new one.

I just beat the game, and yeah that last boss was pretty fun and surprising. Two thumbs up, would play again!

That's handy. I haven't found any skulls and I made it to floor 5, so I knew I missed some. Also haven't found out how to access the iron door on the third floor or how to get to the book that's behind an iron bar gate on the 4th floor.
2) Down a pit (so technically level 4) there was a bit where I had to leave stuff on three pads to open a gate and get to a teleporter to some stuff. I can see more loot through that teleporter but can't workout how to get to it. Don't tell me how, just tell me if I can now or if it's something I get to from elsewhere on level 4 or something.

2) I honestly can't answer this for you. I vaguely remember the area you're referring to, but I've forgotten what I did there.

My stats before the end sequence for my level 14 party:

I swear I searched every wall a thousand times! But there it is, clear as day. That treasure would have really helped before I took on spider country. Oh well.

Mage going down air for a good bit(then either ice/fire/spellcraft or protection, thinking protection) for a certain spell, 2 rogues in front go unarmed/daggers/dodge + 8 ranks in assassination. Rogue in back goes full assassination.
Just get behind things and shred them. Also all humans to maximize skillpoints
edit: Toruum spoilers
I highly recommend thrown weapons, btw. Try to vary your weapons: there aren't that many good daggers in the game.

If it's the latter I imagine longer official dungeons or long user-made dungeons (or maybe even "campaigns" of dungeons if you can import/export parties) would offer the ability to go higher.
