It's been getting surprisingly positive reviews....The artwork for the Arcade..."cover" looks like such ass that I had little hope for it and didn't even try it. I judge books by their covers I suppose. It really does look just awful though...

i might be the only one who thinks fez looks pretty meh
i'll give the demo a shot but most of the gameplay videos have been pretty boring.

I think Fez looks cute, but I;m not sure if thats enough to hold my interest. Good thing there's a demo!

Also, this is like... 3 weeks in a row now that an arcade game comes out on a Friday. Is this a new thing? New games Wednesdays and Fridays?

I agree, and it's getting to the point where I think I'm done with the mega hyped artsy-indie games. I couldn't get into Braid or Bastion either despite the universal praise.

The draw of Fez, as best I can tell from what I've played so far, is puzzle-solving of a highly investigative nature. As in, there's notes written in "secret languages" in various places around the game which can be decrypted -- by you, not by the game -- and lots of Myst-style "here is a strange configuration of machines/objects/whatever. Figure out the purpose of these things."

There's also a Portalesque element. The first time you bend your mind around using the rotation mechanic to reach a new area of the level, you'll probably feel the same way as that first time you walked through a portal.

I really hope you "meh" folk are giving Fez a try. It really is a very good game. I feel like the word 'hype' is being used to say "over-inflated praise", when it's actually well-deserved praise. I hate the number of games that use the "8-bit" or "16-bit" descriptor as some kind of crutch or excuse for their poor art styles, trying to disguise a lack of ability under large pixels. Fez really isn't that kind of thing, it's incredibly detailed and looks like the kind of games my memory tells me I played as a kid (which isn't true, if I loaded them up now I'd see they looked like bums). The music, too, is really, really good. Just go download it and see if it grips you.

It's an amazing game that has been keeping me on it for hours and hours at a time just trying to crack one more puzzle open to get just one more thing. Trying to decipher the alphabet (which isn't needed by the way, to finish the game or even get all the cubes from what I understand), the numbers, the tetrimino pieces. And of course the big one that everyone everywhere is talking about and coming together to try and solve, The Black Monolith. God that thing. Ugh. So many possibilities to it.

This is an achievement of a game that you need to dig deep into to fully understand. I've never once had to bust out a notebook and write down things I was seeing because it could have been a clue. I have 4 full pages of what must look like insane gibberish and tetris pictures to anyone who would look at it. But to me it's progress and achievement. For everyone to be coming together like this to solve this one puzzle. It may seem like nothing at first, but this game becomes something deep that pulls at you and makes you want to solve everything. It isn't easy. But the sense of accomplishment you get from solving just one more puzzle. Deciphering a number or the alphabet. This game is much more than it seems when you first play it. But give it the chance it deserves. It will hook you. And you'll becomes another one like me, going online and typing words in to translate to binary to figure out some code that you don't know what it is. Or even if that's the answer you're looking for. It IS however just one more crossed off the list.

The first one has those silhouette Limbo-like levels too. One anyways (and user content of course if you can find people who made them).

I'm fucking hyped for Trials Evol, I still play Trials HD regularly. I timed out completely on some of those Extreme tracks so many times before completing them, I can't wait for more.

Yeah you've been hacked... change all your passwords and contact Xbox support. Hopefully you didn't have any Live Points cause they'll all be gone if you did. Also check your purchase history cause if you have a credit card linked they'll have bought a whole bunch of FIFA stuff on your account.

It's so easy to just restart and keep trying, that's why I love these games. They're brutally hard but you can noticeably improve with practice.

Yeah, while I was waiting for Evo to download this morning I was going back to some of the HD tracks. There is one in, I think, the medium set that's on a bunch of pipes where you have to jump, build up momentum, and then end up going left and doing a small jump. You managed it with no faults. I think I have 20+ by the time I was done.

I did manage to beat one of your easy times though. The score is still something like 150 to 1, but I really like the slick leaderboard stuff they have in there.

Managed to get through the first 2 license tests in Evo this morning. Everything in Evo feels smoother, and the license tests are great in that they explain some of the stuff that pros just figured out in the past games.
