Huh. What do we know about this soulbond mechanic?
Because it seems to me that you can "chain" bonds by binding an already bound creature to a newly summoned soulbonder or binding an incoming creature to another creature with soulbond….

We know that one a creature is considered "paired" it can't be "paired" with another one -- or else it would no longer be a "pair". Semantics FTW. (Also, explicitly stated in the mechanics article.)

Well then they're using extremely terrible grammar in the reminder text. It sounds, from the card, like I could have a Soulbond creature in play, and then every time an "unpaired" creature entered the battlefield, I could pair it to the one Soulbond creature I had. I figured that wasn't the case, mostly because it would absurdly powerful, but still. Whoever proofread that reminder text should be defenestrated.

Also, does that mean Wolfir Silverheart is an 8/8 for 5 CC? Crazy.

I think the "Another" part of "another unpaired creature" implies that both must be unpaired upon pairing.

I can see that. On the other hand, based on their usual use of "another", it seemed more likely they meant, "you can't pair this creature with itself, jackass".

Well, I think each of their "Enter the Battlefield" triggered abilities would have to go on the stack in an order their controller specifies, so as you resolved the various abilities creatures that became paired would stop being legal options.

That would make a lot of sense too. It wouldn't surprise me if they added that to the comp rules.

Just right now, since it doesn't target, there's no valid-target test on resolution to fail.

I just agree with the other folks who are saying that the ability as described is a bit confusing and I figure they'll clarify it when they update the comp rules.

The W/R utility land has been revealed in Spanish.

    T: Add one colourless mana.
WR,T: Target creature gains +2/0 and gains haste+vigilance till end of turn.

I managed to ditch all but two of my W&P over the weekend for more current, relevant stuff. I'll probably be playing Fog till Venser or Stonehorn rotates, so I just kept some for EDH. They might spike higher than $45, but I'd rather get Huntmasters and the like now.

Doot doot just got second in a 16 man Modern tourney with my volt charge red + better burn. Lost in the finals to Lava Spike.dec, I THINK because I lost the roll, it seems like that just swung the tempo away from me too much. Who knows. Still, not too shabby for terrible me.

E: I will greatly miss shrine of burning rage (and volt charge) when they rotate out of standard.

Oh snap I just had the BEST deck idea.

Descent into Madness + Sundial of the Infinite. Bwahahahaha!

Add green for ramp so I can get them both out early, I guess, since 5 is kind of expensive. Talk about a ridiculous lockdown.

Or maybe make it black/white and put the Knowledge Pool/Curse of Exhaustion combo in too. Create the most frustrating Standard deck of all time for FNM.

It's not like Smokestack in that the adding counters and sacrifice/exile abilities are linked on Descent. Also, all players exile cards on your turn, at the same time, instead of each player during his or her own upkeep like Smokestack/Tangle Wire.

Or maybe I'm not seeing it?

No visual spoiler shown yet, but rumoured:

    Homegrounds
    Land
When Homegrounds comes into play choose a creature type.
T: Add one colorless mana to your mana pool.
T: Add one mana of any colour to your mana poll. This mana may only be used to cast creature spells of the chosen type. Creatures cast this way may not be countered by spells or abilities.

Human Frailty is basically an instant Deathmark for Modern and Legacy, except it hits Delver instead of Tarmogoyf. Whether or not this is relevant since Swords and Path are still better remains to be seen.

I want, like, 18 of them.

At minimum I'd put them in every tribal EDH deck I'm running, which would be 7 (Soldiers, Dragons, Zombies, Slivers, Angels, Elves, Vampires), but I could see putting it in all of them just to add backup protection for the commander alone.

Watching the Magic Forums explode over Cavern of Souls (the apparent name of the card) is kind of hilarious. Apparently it ruins the metagame.

Also this one, which I think is deceptively powerful
    Wizard's Wonderland
    Land

Tap: Add 1 to your mana pool.
GU, Tap: Until end of turn, non-land cards you own have flash.

Three extra mana to cast any creature, sorcery, artifact, enchantment, etc in hand. OR any flashback cards you might have. It's being dismissed pretty thoroughly as "the worst land in the block" over on MTG, but I think they're underestimating it.

Well, it certainly can't be "Feast of Blood," since that's a Zendikar sorcery. "Blood Feast" is available for this reverse Sanguine Bond (two-card-ish kill in Modern?).
