    I'm not digging that they're still sticking you with a full-time partner. That really turned me off of 5. I can't really articulate why I didn't like it, but I want to be the lone shooter. I didn't even mind having Ashley along on RE4 (especially on a special second playthrough when she no longer needs protecting).

    I just loved RE4 so much, then RE5 seemed so very dumb. I had never played or even seen RE4 in my entire life up until last year when I started it up and played a bajillion hours of it. Then I jumped into 5 and said "Alright! I can't wait for this!" and... it just changed everything I liked about RE4 for the worse.

    Again, I can't articulate why I hate everything about RE5 (though I can say I detest Chris's weird muscle-bound body, but i liked the Leo DiCaprio thing Leon had going). I just want RE6 to be RE4 with better graphics and a new setting. But I know that's unrealistic.

    I maxed out all the Mercenaries stuff in RE4. It was infuriating but fun. Hunk was my favorite.

    Resident Evil after 4 should have just turned into the adventures of Leon. Travelling the world, each game in a new location with a new monstery thing or cult or whatever. No continuity, no consequences, no overarching storyline. Just adventures, the merchant and monsters.

    The ai partner seems way less bad once you realize you have to press the assist button to get them to save you if you get grabbed

    Otherwise they just do it randomly, which is why I thought it was just fucking broken for a long time

    Yeah after a certain point the AI companion simply is not good enough to finish that game

    And then the final boss fight is garbage and bullshit and there's a quicktime event that is shit

    But the game plays so damn good that I just played Mercenaries forever anyway

    Man, Mercenaries mode in RE4.

    'Cherry on top' doesn't really do it justice.

    It's more like finding a second cake inside of the cake you're already enjoying.

    i think one fo the reasons why it kinda felt shallow in 5 was because you didn't have to play it. yeah in 4 you didn't have to, but if you did and you got good you got the hand cannon. in 5? nothing special, just points.

    But...I beat the game with the AI partner.

    The final boss fight was garbage though. I think I ended up knifing the bastard to death.
