I would not have to be talked into playing a Mouse Guard rpg. I'd be all up in that cheese.

In panels 1-2 I was with the players. Magic cheese? Eff that. In panel 3 I'm on board. That looks charming as fuck.

Mouse Guard is a really interesting system and style of RPG. I think if they wanted to do something different (EG Non-4E) they couldn't have picked something better. I'm eager to find out how this works out.

    "Roll to save versus cheese"

I admit I may have laughed a bit harder than I should at that.

It's almost as great as "take this cheese to sickbay".

Do you need Baleful Polymorph to create that magic cheese?

  • IvarIvar Oslo, NorwayRegistered User regular
Is that a constitution save or a will save?

  • RMS OceanicRMS Oceanic Registered User regular
I presume it's a will save to avoid being compelled to eat the cheese. The cheese has no save.

  • IvarIvar Oslo, NorwayRegistered User regular
Maybe it's a reflex save, if someone is throwing the cheese into your mouf

They're taking the EZ way out, though, writing gouda jokes on cheese is a brieze. A sweet mouseguard shirt would bring in the cheddar, though.

What is this I don't even.

The artwork in Mouse Guard is phenomenal. I read one of the graphic novels, and it was about civil war in the mouse kingdom. Relatively dark stuff!

If the box art alone doesn't convince someone to give this a chance they probably aren't worth being friends with.

If you camembert it then you'd better get out; there's stiltons of cheeses to go.

Does Mouse Guard have rules for crafting? But is it adorable mouse crafting, so they spell it with a K? Because if that's the case, then if the players get lonely and want to fill out the tavern with people to talk with, they could Kraft Singles.

That was my favorite part too. Partly because I've had to deal with that kind of situation before.

Mouse Guard is a comic (and now RPG) that is very similar to Redwall, in that the mice are the protagonists.

    Entirely different worlds, though.

In Mouse Guard everything is pretty to-scale, so otters and badgers would be giant. For comparison: they sometimes use hares as mounts.

Fall 1152 opens with a fight with a Giant Enemy Crab

I love the combo panel in this. I think it works awesomely to preserve the standard 3-panel format, set up the joke with the usual pacing, and still get that look of everyone sitting around a table.

If you're not too keen on the idea of RPing mice, The Burning Wheel is from the same designer with a little more death, and standard fantasy tropes.

    I highly recommend both, though.
