Something that hasn't been mentioned about this episode: Arya's kill list. Awesome. Loved the way she added on a few more names later. I feel like I might have missed a name though. What were the names she mentioned?

This is by memory, so not 100%: Cersei, Joffrey, The Mountain, Polliver (the interrogator), and I think Jaime was on the list.

EDIT: Ugh, I forgot Ser Ilyn Payne, the dude who actually chopped off Ned's head. And the Hound. I suck.

I didn't think the interrogator was Polliver, I thought he was the tickler.

I don't remember hearing Polliver but I fully understand him being on the list.
"Joffrey. Cersei. Ilyn Payne. The Hound." was the original list (repeated over).
After the woman begs for food and gets beaten she adds "The Mountain."

The woman says "Please, Polliver, just some bread!" and gets clubbed in the face.

Then Arya adds Polliver and the Mountain to the list.

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Polliver, the Mountain...

Quick question for anyone with the Blu-rays.
I back up my disks to my computer, both for ease of watching and for...well, backup purposes.

While going through all of the chapters on disk 1, I came across two videos with readings - one of Sansa and one of Viserys - where they're practicing lines with what I presume are speaking coaches (and/or it was audition tapes?). I must be stupid or something, but I can't find those in the menus. Were they hidden easter eggs or something?

There were 5 or 6 on the various discs. "Dragon eggs."

Just googled it with "dragon eggs"

Apparently you had to have the menu open while watching the episodes themselves in order for an icon to appear where you could access them.

    That was glorious.

Liked how Maisie and Sophie were given the same scene. It's pretty much the perfect one to show their differences.

edit: and Miltos having to ask for the line was interesting. I hadn't realized that was still a thing people do, especially in auditions. Sophie was the only other one with an issue remembering.

Holy shit this episode was AWESOME

When I read the birthing scene in the book the only thing flashing in my head was "HOW ARE THEY EVEN GOING TO DO THIS IN THE SHOW??" but they actually pulled it off. Harrenhal was really neat too. Too bad about the Mountain, this new guy just has the length and none of the rest of the physical presence of the previous mountain.

I'm glad about the latter, but if Dinklage is supporting I don't know who the lead is. Not that there really is one in a show like this, I guess, but isn't he first billed this season?

Regardless, Tyrion's scenes continue to delight.

Oh, and they continue the pattern of having at least one prostitute in damn near every episode.

Yeah, nobody submitted as lead. And Jack Gleason didn't submit at all, which is dumb. He's giving the third best performance so far (Tyrion, obvs, and I think Maisie Williams is #2, though your mileage may vary).

Gleeson really should have, he's probably the most hated villain I've ever seen, and since that's kind of his job that suggests he's freaking killing it.

It's still astounding that Sean Bean didn't get at least a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series last year.

Sure, the show now features even more concurrent intertwined storylines and a growing cast of major characters, but Season 1 was unquestionably all about Ned Stark and heavily showcased Sean Bean's talents. What a shame!

Same. I missed him completely. I miss the old Mountain already.

Count me as another that didn't even notice the Mountain was in this episode. I barely noticed he was big. You have to really be careful filming scenes with big people, the camera can actually make every look closer in size if you are not careful.

*edit* just re-watched his scene. I guess he is tall, but he has none of the menace of the old mountain, and no bulk. His new armor does not suit him at all.

Yeah, like I buy him as evil, but he looks middle-eastern, he kind of reminded me of count dooku, when he should remind me of like a giant wrestler. I mean I guess it shows how hard it is to be big and muscley at that height, Conan Stevens was a freak. Also the armour and chainmail made him look lanky, like it didnt give him any shoulders, also the hat, while fine on regular soldiers, looks downright Knights Who Say Ni on the new Mountain.

I think they could make him work, but I have a feeling that by the time more Mountain scenes come, they may just hire Conan again if he's done with Hobbit filming. At least thats what im hoping

When, er, Merchant-With-The-Name-That-Is-Too-Long-To-State gestures back at them and introduces them as the city's ruling body, Xaro Xhoan Daxos tips his head to Dany.

God the Television Without Pity forums have gotten godawful for game of thrones. They're all gathered around, preaching to each other about how the Joffrey scene was clearly only there to titillate the perverse HBO fanbase and normalize sexual violence. There was also mention of how since the writer for that episode was female, she must've been trying to overcompensate and write things that men wanted to see.

I had to run for it once they started dropping "rape culture" into the conversation. Not because of them talking about rape culture, but because they weren't even defining it vaguely correctly.

Aaaargh. I may be grouchy here sometimes, but goddamn PA forums I do so appreciate your general non-pretentiousness.

My favorite part was just after she shut him down you could hear one of the soldiers talking in the background say something that sounded remarkably like "heyoooooo!"
Interview with the guy who plays Robb.
HitFix; But some of you have obviously read ahead. How do people resist...

Richard Madden: They don't! Everyone tells you everything. You're like, "Oh come on!" There's a lot of covering your ears in the bar. It's like, "Who's read what? OK! Cover your ears. That's enough.
    ...
HitFix: When the last book came out in hardcover, who was the first person to get their hands on it? Who was the first person texting you about it?

Richard Madden: Hmmm. Maybe Mr. Harington. He can't put them down. I've constantly got this restraint and I'm like, "Don't. Just don't do it. Don't do it." Whereas Kit, he just went through them like cookies. And now he's like, "Awww. I've got nothing else to read now."
    Sounds about right.
Everyone is justly pissed about the new Mountain -- he's got a kickass voice, though. One of the least important parts about the character, sure. But hey... silver lining?

    As for the rest...

Roose Bolton is perfect. As are the Thirteen. One of them, in particular. Cannot say more, yet.

    Joffrey whore scene was unnecessary.

Good job on shadow-creature birth scene.

No Jon Snow despite ending him on a cliffhanger last episode.
