Oh hey, @Mim, since you aren't on the gchatz I'll tell you here
I've made it through another stage of filtering for that job in the diplomatic corps
Unfortunately, they don't seem to be planning on concluding interviews before the end of July! That is when my flight for JET leaves, you see. I guess I will be taking the JET job for suresies, now.
And then I bought a plane ticket to Japan and we hung out and I got drunk and sick on chu-his.
I tried watching thundercats and promptly swore never to repeat that mistake
you can't go home on a saturday morning again
Thundercats is the gayest TV show I have ever seen. And I don't mean gay as in "bad". I mean it makes The Birdcage look like something produced by Focus on the Family.

I couldn't make it past snarf

snarf is actually the term for the percussive coughs- and the resultant cloud of powder caused by the above- one experiences upon snorting too deep a line of coke off a lover's penis

the intros promised epic adventure and then the show is always animated at 2fps and the story is about how they forgot Snarf's birthday or whatever
that said, I think GI Joe actually sort of delivered. I don't want to say it "holds up" because it's still going to be kind of tedious viewing for an adult but at least it does what it says on the box.
In retrospect the best 80s cartoons by a landslide were the Disney ones. They didn't scrimp on animation. DuckTales is a good-looking show. Robotech and Mysterious Cities of Gold are still pretty great too.

suddenly i'm interested in thundercats
Eff the hatas, it's a fun show, and the animation isn't as bad as a lot of the other absolutely awful shows I remember liking from my childhood. Damn you speed racer, you are completely unwatchable.

I agree about GI Joe and ducktales / rescue rangers.

Well, to be absolutely fair, Speed Racer originally aired a good twenty years before ThunderCats.

i wonder if gargoyles would still be good
I think gargoyles would hold up better than most. Still kind of hit and miss but I bet it would be fun to watch today.
When my boy was about 6 we bought a box of Darkwing Duck DVDs at half price books and those were still pretty good.

You work at Walmart/ in a government office/in the fast food industry as well?
Almost everything that gets said on the internet sounds horrible when said out loud.
