Man where do you guys go for like, good hockey reading? ESPN is awful.
I clicked on the overview of Caps/Rags and it literally makes no sense whatsoever. I'm ok with someone going against my team - especially when it's a 7 vs a 1, but literally the entire article was about how if the Caps can beat the Bruins, they can beat anyone. All 5 "Keys" were about Caps players stepping up. The final summary? It's going to be a battle - Rangers in 6!
!? the article literally does not even MENTION a single thing the Rangers do better, or a reason the Rangers would win. Just awful.
And puck daddy was alright, until the entire last paragraph was literally "Well, Im a rangers fan though and i hate the Caps and DC is going to be full of such fairweather fans so who cares."
As someone who has been a lifelong Caps fan, from basically the age I could understand sports until today, through the WORST seasons in NHL history, I can't stand stuff like that.
So where can I read decent, thought out analysis?

I feel your pain. I'm a Caps fan, too.
Other than Puck Daddy, I tend to poke my head in at NHL.com. The Washington Post can be very hit-or-miss with its commentary, which, now that I think about it, makes the sports page just like every other section of the newspaper nowadays. Hmm.

I don't, no. I'm lucky if I see Canadian games other than the Leafs, particularly since the Leafs usually cut off things like Ottawa or Montreal playing.

Final:
'94 all over again.
Well, besides losing my Western Conference representative in the final, I picked decently (2 in the west and 3 in the east). Still have to repick the 2nd round though.
West
Blues over Kings in 7 (with 7 goals scored in regulation time for the entire series)
Preds over Yotes in 6 (boring games, or the MOST boring games?)
East
Rangers over Caps in 6 (I think. This seems like the hardest series to handicap)
Flyers over Devils in 6 (I suspect the Flyers will dominate but the Devils will put up a decent fight)
I scored a goal exactly like Boedker in floor hockey (was a 2 on 1 to boot), but I shot to the right (where he scored on the left). I think he might be on the list of my favorite players now.
A bit late to post, but I've been mulling it over for a pool I'm running as well.

Well....
you got three of 'em.
Who did the best? I got 6, with 1 having the correct number of games.
Edit: Who did the best - ME!
6 correct, 1 number of games correct
Runners up -
Corvus - 5 correct, 0 number of games
Quovadis - 5 correct, 1 number of games
OSUJumpman - 5 correct, 1 number of games
Last Place
NovaC - 2 correct, 0 number of games
Aegis - 2 correct, 1 number of games, and picked both philly and pitts to lose.
Wait just a minute here. Don't deny me my silver medal - I had 5 series correct (Preds in the west, all 4 series in the East), and 2 with the right #of games (Preds in 5, Caps in 7).
On that note; if anyone else picked the caps, I probably got your prediction count wrong, as well.
There's one other person, but I don't remember who it is - I know because when the Caps went up 3-2 I went through the OP to see if anyone other than me had been crazy enough to pick them.
Wow, Nashville, you outplayed, outshot and even outhustled the other team for most of the game (and even got some lucky breaks), yet you still lost because their goalie stood on his head and your goalie gave up some softies.
So, I was talking hockey with my dad last night, and now I pose the question to you guys.
Do you think that, after this season, goal tending will go back to the top of peoples 'what our team needs most' list?
I mean, Smith was on super fire going into the playoffs. Quick has been phenomenal all season. Pekka Rinne fills up the entire net without needing to move. Elliot/Halak are still doing work. And in the west Lundqvist and (to a much lesser extend) Broduer are still names to be feared. That's 6 of 8 teams with amazing goaltending, and doesn't even count the youngster Holtbys performance against the Broons.
Do you think this'll learn teams like San Jose who gave away Nobokov and Chicago who gave away Niemi that they were 'tards?
Is this post season the re-emergence of the goalie as the most valuable position on the ice?
I'm not really sure why it hasn't been treated as nearly top, if not completely top priority to begin with. I mean, hasn't goaltending been one of the main issues people have been talking about pretty much since Hextall retired? And don't get me started on the Avs since Roy retired.

Might be, yeah. Lots of goalies may be on the move this summer too. Luongo, Thomas, a bunch of others.

That's also the first I've heard of Thomas maybe being on the move. That'll make Rask happy if it happens.
