they had very large, very colorful signs with remarkably high-resolution pictures on them, I was stuck between wanting to ask them where they got that print work done and wanting to scream my throat bloody at them for their awful ideas

As the Ultros approaches the island, you realize that it's much bigger than Sargossa. Surprisingly, it also appears to be heavily forested, the hilly landmass covered in foliage.
On the far side of the island is a small, sand-coated bay. The docks are completely vacant. There's a small outpost, comprised of buildings in various states of disrepair. At a glance, it appears to be abandoned.

Also, ran a 100% game for some friends Friday night. Everybody had a blast in s slate gray-like setting pulling some reservoir dogs stuff. A lot of comments on how fun and easy the system was.

Not much else I'm willing to hint at... beyond customized battle armor, and subterranean lizard people
This flash in the pan idea I just had is something more in the SK theme, and will remain a concept I'll work with at a later date
Basically, make a Space rpg that children and adults could both enjoy. Ratchet and Clank would give you a good idea of how the space physics would work. Of course, the Spiral Knights overtones are very present.

Basically there's this city built against a steep, large mountain, surrounded by a giant magical fence which allows nothing in or out. On the edge of the city, bordering the mountain is a large gate blocking a set of stairs that lead to Niflheim, the castle where the mysterious king of the city resides, who nobody has seen in decades. The population is kept forcibly in check by Servitors of the king. There's a lot of class struggle going on between the poor, the rich, and those magically gifted. There are rumours that there are three keystones hidden within the city that can open the gate leading to the king.
It's basically a city styled after the roaring 20's, with lots of art deco and sharp looking people + Magic. Dieselpunkish, I guess?
