Oh god, and there's this kid I know who has decided he wants to make his own manga.
He has recruited a bunch of people off deviant art to do "concept art and everything", then he made a facebook page for one of his characters and wants me to like it:
Hello everyone. Reports of Guild Wars 2's excellence were not exaggerated. The game needs a lot of work but the underlying premise and design is very sound. It definitely feels more like a regular game with MMO elements than a traditional MMO.
Combat.
Details.
Now.
Well, my (limited) experiences support all of the hearsay and third-party impressions I've passed onto you. One thing I need to look into further is dodging projectiles. I haven't been paying close attention because I'm trying to stay alive but thus far I've been dodging projectiles with the dodge function attached to your energy pool. I'm not sure if it's possible to dodge projectiles by merely moving out of the way. There are latency issues that hamstring the combat a bit and make it less clear.
Combat can be really hard. Standing around gets me killed. I'm trying to approach the game from a MOBA mindset where you have to weigh close engagements and select skills according to the situation, as people seem to have success with that, but I'm very much used to regular MMO combat where I never experienced those considerations as necessary. Also I'm only level 8 or 9 and AI behaviour apparently changes soon to become even more involving with dodging and interrupting becoming paramount to success.
I'm not the best person to ask because I've just been playing alone due to the limited amount of time I have available this weekend.

Decidedly undecided about that. Feels like sometimes I can dodge by just moving, sometimes I can't.

It's as if they're aiming it straight at people with jobs that can't dedicate five years of their life to an MMO.
Yeah, like I said just now I haven't had a lot of time to play but I actually don't care. I don't feel like it's necessary for me to play more than I want. There is a shitload of things to do and explore in the immediate area and you can always just hop into some world v world or do a competitive PvP match like it's a regular multiplayer game.

And the level scaling! You'll never be more than two levels above the difficulty of any given area. It'll be challenging no matter where you go, including the starting areas for the other races.

The name Kurt actually instantly adds five pounds to any frame
The only Kurt I ever knew was also the skinniest man I've ever met. I think he was something like 6' and 135.
When he was born premature, the doctors advised that the parents not name him Walt, and that naming the baby Kurt was the only way to a healthy prognosis.
Yeah, my shirts fit. Not form fitting so my buddha belly doesn't stick out but not super baggy unless it is an old shit shirt for sitting around the house/cleaning.
Most of my long sleeves are perfect so not to loose, don't show off the belly but makes my chest look nice and broad.

Yeah it's like you can't catch a break! The game just wants to beat you until you're a tough son of a bitch. Keeping track of yourself is almost overwhelming sometimes, in a good way. I think this game is going to have a high skill ceiling.

I think this game is going to have a high skill ceiling.
Yeah, I still haven't quite figured out how to best use the Mesmer shatters.
I would fuck up the mesmer probably. The game is a lot harder to play than it looks on video. I feel like I have to study all of my moves and form tactical plans to fall back on if shit happens. I'm still trying to figure out which weapon combinations I want to use with my thief. The pistol/dagger dagger/pistol combo is cool because I can shadow step in and out of melee range but I'm terrible at managing initiative and I keep running out.

Guys, this entire conversation tree makes Winky talking about drunken Lolitas seem like afternoon high tea.

Sounds like he still needs an editor.

My shirts have gotten progressively and progressively tighter.
Ladies have gotten progressively and progressively more all over my shit.

So does my metal head friend. Yet between his martial arts and daily time at the gym it doesn't matter. He gets all the tail.
Man has hell of a chest.
whaaaaat?
I want to be like you.

That is what I want.
sure
This sounds like some shit we use to do in DAoC. Curiosity peaked again.
Can thieves climb up walls stealthed, kill a healer and run away? Because that is what infiltrators did during keep sieges. It was pretty awesome.
