I keep hoping Korra will kind of go the way of Fiona and Cake, and just realize that just having a bunch of guy friends and being into guy stuff is perfectly acceptable, and dating someone isn't going to validate you.
I would like this. Girl needs at least one character who's just a friend, in any case.
I thought about getting the episodes on Amazon Instant but since I have Xfinity and can watch them at my leisure I'll just get the whole series in bulk when it's done.
Completely forgot about Saturday's episode and came home from work this evening to a pleasant email saying it was ready for itunsing. Loved the episode.
Korra being scared the entire episode was a super interesting touch. I like how distinct it makes her from Aang and TLA in general, as I can't recall a single episode in that series which focused specifically on fear. None of the characters ever really seems frightened to face anything expect perhaps as some comic relief. Well, there was that episode where Aang didn't want to sleep before the eclipse and the expected showdown with Ozai, but that's kind of different from Korra as it was temporary. Not the bone deep fear our protagonist herself was (and presumably still is) experiencing.
Although, to be honest, the part of this episode which got me the most excited was the brief flashback to Aang's past Korra experienced after Amon knocked her out. Originally I thought this show was going to focus almost exclusively on Korra, it being her story, but now I'm not entirely sure. You don't put in foreshadowing like that if you aren't going to spend quite some time later on expanding on it. We might end up seeing more than a little bit of Aang and the old group, probably more than the single spiritual monologue I at least had original anticipated.
Something has to be up with the Satos. Sea turtle ex machina aside, this show's writers are in general too good to have a solution supplied so easily without there being some kind of narrative catch later on to make up for it. A pretty lady who just happens to have all the money they need and incidentally is also super attracted to Mako as well just happens to hit him? C'mon. I would wager the show wants us to believe Aang gave Sato the loan which established his empire, but it will actually turn out to be someone else. Amon, maybe, if he's older than he appears.
Ember Island Players is amazing because it's such a great commentary on the relationship between the fans and the show, executed within the show itself.
Speaking of which, I just found the Avatar Season 3 end trailer, and the amount of Zutara trolling in that is absolutely amazing. I love how much they mess with the shippers.
Does anyone know where I can find a .gif of Korra flinging wrench man with the scarf, by the way?

Funny story. People got super pissed about Fionna and Cake because of that speech and the fact that she acted llike a 13 year old girl.
I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.
Huh, according to the Korra site, Tenzin is 51 and Pema is 35.
It's totes the beard.
Though Math wise it does make sense Tenzin is in his fifties. Air Monks seem to age pretty damn well.
It did occur to me that Aang never met any of Tenzin's kids though and that's pretty sad.

Paradigms of Human Memory and Ember Island Players are both great in that they represent a ridiculously high level of direct engagement between the show and its fanbase, specifically in regard to shippers.
Community pretty much straight-up inserts a Jeff/Annie fan video into the show and then pokes some fun at shipping in general, while Ember Island Players is basically 20 minutes of Mike and Bryan ragging on Zutarans, among many other glorious things. It's hilarious.

I knew it.
I do not believe so, she's got a day job at some company that makes facebook games, and the rest of her time is spent on Lackadaisy.

I love how stage Sokka used some of the suggested jokes.
Sokka was so happy.

Which makes it even better.
The sheer lengths to which the creators of this show went in order to troll Zutarans are a thing of beauty.
You should remedy this.
