    Well, yeah. One cannot get through inferno mode without dying.

    My guess is that someone, somewhere, will do it. But I'm glad that the game isn't designed to allow the majority of people to do it.

    if you're not getting the CE I think download from blizz is 100% the right choice.

    I agree with this.

    Since i'm getting the CE, though, I have to wait. :(

    Here's how I want collector's editions to work in the future: You pre-order the game, and the game client is available online. On release day you can install the downloaded game client and start playing as soon as the servers are up.

    Then Blizzard eventually mails you a box full of stuff later on.

    I would settle for the client file being available to everyone so that they could pre-load it while waiting for their boxed CE's to arrive. It's more convenient than bumming a link to the client from someone that digitally pre-ordered direct from Blizz.

    Wait...

    People can share those client downloads?

    Edit: To be clear, I'm not asking that someone do that. I just didn't know it could happen. I assumed that every digital pre-order had its own specific serial code / purchase ID that was needed to access the client and so the client, itself, could not be shared.

    It seems like a pointless amount of work to tie client files to serial keys since you have to log into the game with a valid account that also requires a key. Maybe if both were tied to the same key, but once again, what's the point? It's not like you can do anything with the client itself.

    And there's a link to it a page or three back.

    I think it will probably be literally impossible to beat Inferno with the gear of a fresh level 60. I imagine it will not be too unreasonable for the best players in the absolute top tier gear though. The main difficulty will be assembling that gear in Hardcore(where all your gear is lost when you die), and then even after that you still have to do it without dying once, risking all the equipment you've assembled.

    Here is a reddit post containing links to all of the language and platform versions of the release Diablo 3 client. http://www.reddit.com/r/Diablo/comments/qxyxm/diablo_3_windows_and_mac_download_links_all/

    There is no protection whatsoever preventing people from downloading the client regardless of if you have or have not purchased whatever version. Protecting the client is meaningless when the game requires a login to play in any capacity. So, if you will be waiting for a collector's edition box to get delivered or something, you can absolutely have this downloaded and decrypted and waiting for you to log in before you even have the game in your hands.

    I was healing lead in a heavily progression-focused WoW raid from Vanilla up until Cataclysm, basically. Support is in my nature. I'm a real "team player". That's just sort of ... how I roll. However, I just have this sinking feeling that it'll be "my fault" if people die on higher difficulties. When I'm playing with randoms, anyway. I plan on rolling with a crew of friends, most of the time.

    Y'know, try as I might, I still have a hard time picking males over females when it comes to aesthetics. Well, except the barbarian cause.. yeah. The lady monk (which will be my first character) looks way nicer than the dude monk.

    Why would anyone want to stare at a male character model rather than a female character model?

    In WoW I usually did female casters, male beefy fighters, and alternated with agile characters. The Diablo characters have a lot more ... character, though so I just go with whichever seems cooler. My first round will probably be female Wizard, male Barb, male WD, female Monk, male DH.

    I like the male Monk, Barbarian, and Witch Doctor, but I vastly prefer the female Demon Hunter and Wizard. I have a friend who will only play male characters, though. I have no idea why. Even though he loved some of the Sorceress mechanics in Diablo 2, he never played one past level 20 or so, because he just didn't want to play as a woman. I can't imagine why it matters. I mean, it's not like we're role-playing our characters out there, you know? It's not like you have to put up with Barbarians constantly hitting on you if you play an Assassin.

    Someone mentioned earlier (or maybe in the other thread) that when they played as the Rogue in D1 guys would keep giving them free stuff and asking if they were girls.

    ...yeah I don't get guys who refuse to play female characters either; apparently some of them assume that everyone else is the same way. Way to lock yourselves out of 1/3 (D1) or 3/7(d2) of the game's content, dudes.

    I did this in WoW.

    Leveling is much easier if you pretend to be a female.

    Yeah, I'm not that proud of it, but during one raid as a female rogue, someone asked if I was a girl and I tried to answer sarcastically. The sarcasm didn't really translate, so I spent the rest of the raid pretending to be a lesbian who lacked a microphone.

    Seriously? I mean I almost always play female characters when given the option. Hot girls all the way. But have you seen the Barbarian female? Fuck that. At this stage I am going:

    Monk = Female
    Wizard = Female
    DH = Female (still a bit unsure)
    Barb = Male. Without question.
    WD = Male.

    The Barbarian is actually unique among the D3 classes in that your options are:

    1. Male
    2. Slightly smaller, fat male with man boobs.

    not at all saying this is how everyone should be, I just never clicked with playing a female character. I don't think I have ever except when it's required. oh and I made a fem tauren in WoW but I barely played it, just because it happened to be at the end of my time.

    Agreed. Never much cared for the usual chainmail-bikini models.

    I think my wife will like the female Barb too, when years ago she briefly played WoW she rolled a female Orc Warrior. When I asked about it, seeing as she could've been a Blood Elf Paladin or something more feminine, she basically said that a female Orc looked like someone who could swing a big effin' axe and crush some skulls... not so much with the Blood Elf. She wanted to play something tough and kick ass, and that's what she picked.

    Can't argue with that.

    She was also a big fan of the DII Barb, so I think the "burly chick" aesthetic is right up her alley.

    I realized I am a cybertranny awhile back. Given the option I will always choose the female version or if a game has a female lead then I become vastly more interested in it until I see the gameplay.

    So yeah first slow for story run through will be female Barbarian. I also don't know what anyone sounds like cause in the beta I turned down all vocals so as not to ruin the story run on release.

    I spent most of today playing Diablo II. I started in the beginning of Act III and made it all the way to the end of Act IV. I died a lot on Diablo, but managed to chip him down slowly. Now I'm ready to take on Act V. I can probably do that before May 15th.
