All this talk of games means this page needs a gaming webcomic.
Today's comic is definitely one of those cases when the news post is more substancial than the comic. Today's is a simple pun and a slight observation, and it's that observation I want to expand upon in the news post.
NINTENDO! It's time to get your shit together. You may have the biggest market share due to the casual game explosion in the most resent generation, but as far as the hardcore game is concerned, the audience you used to dominate, you're a distant third. So here's some things you need to incorporate into the Wii U
One: A hard drive. Let's face it, the storage space on the Wii is pathetic when a 1GB flash card has five times the storage space. If you're going to continue to offer virtual console games you should probably build a system that can store more the five of them at one time.
Two: You need to implament a system like Xbox Live, Steam, or the Playstation Network where all online transactions are associated with an online account, not the system they were purchased on. I bought over $200 worth of virtual console and wiiware games on my first Wii, now I can't play them on my new one, and that is bullshit.
Three: This is the most important one. You need an online infrastucture in general. The point I made in this comic is there is no way to patch a Nintendo game, which in today's age of gaming is just dumb. Now I admit that patching is a double edged sword. While it allows you to fix broken games, it could also encourage publishers to ship an unfinished product, because they know they can patch it later. For the most part Nintendo is reaaly good about shipping games that don't need patching, but sometimes they let one slip by.
This one gets recommended a lot but I couldn't get into it.
I prefer funny stuff to informative stuff. There are funny bits in Trespasser but mostly he talks a lot about the game and the development and such. Which is still pretty cool, just not what I look for in these things.
Generally I like multiple commentators when possible (The Sonic 2006 LP is mostly what got me watching LP videos), but some people are good at being humorous solo. Tube's current playthrough of Hitman is quite amusing.
Best example is the Giant Bomb Endurance Run of Persona 4. Vinny and Jeff play off each other really well and are super entertaining guys.
I quite like a lot of stuff Chip & Ironicus put out: http://chipandironicus.com/ , and there's a really good Silent Hill: Homecoming LP on youtube by Kamoc (who also does youtube reacts videos). Also, secret astronauts are pretty entertaining!
It's pretty amazing, yeah, but Animal Crossing by chewbot (there is probably a fair argument for this not really being an LP though), Drakenguard by the dark id and Persona 3 by schidkrote are all pretty excellent. And that's only to name a few of the good ones. The SA archive of them is largely garbage, though, that much is certainly true.
I wish that someway, somehow, that I could save every one of us

I keep on reading Prequel. I know it will make me bummed out, but I won't stop.
You're right Cilla. If only Kaz had some good reason to really shake things up, subjecting Katia to circumstances and real peril unrelated to her own goals and small-key challenges.
Prequel is really good, so you should keep reading it. Although I have to admit the whole Katia getting shat upon schtick needs to have something happen to it here soon or it's going to have worn out its welcome. Circumstances need to evolve, Prequel guy, not go through the exact same routine under a different label every 30 pages.
Kat rescued a baby pigeon, so between that and Zimmy nearly eating City Face (official pigeon of Gunnerkrigg Court), they have obviously developed a psychic bond based on their mutal interest in pigeons that manifests as
