That's fascinating. Why is the road so unkempt? Why does it stop so abruptly at the waterfall? Where is it? Why was it built?

Looks like a normal road that fell victim to a pretty substantial earthquake and landslides. I'd guess this is in Japan based upon the serviceman near the beginning, which would make it probably still in this bad of shape over time due to how many roads were wrecked during those earthquakes a while back.

    This is just conjecture, though.

"A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects."

Using google translate and my piss poor understanding of Japanese I think the description says something about an abandoned section of a national highway.

Think about how I feel... I recognized where the first one was from!

Also, this is amusing to me:

Yeah, the road is the "Old National Highway" state road 222.

They probably built a tunnel or a larger or more-direct road and this one wasn't needed anymore so they stopped spending money to maintain it. Without regular upkeep these kinds of man-made structures get reclaimed surprisingly quickly.

An old road in my hometown that we used to drive on when I was a kid is now little more than a few chunks of asphalt leading through the forest and overgrown with bushes.

I'd like this trick more if the first 2 and a half minutes of the video wasn't rendered meaningless in the process.
