Yeah the turnout numbers made me think this might be going Barrett's way but the exit polls and results look like a lost cause.
latest exits adjustment now has it walker 52, barrett 48

politico.com shows 21% reporting and Barrett gaining only 0.1%.

Milwaukee is Walker by 8 points with 7% reported.
Dane is Barrett by 11, with 18% reporting.
Brown is Walker by 20 points with 60% reporting.

Ultimately this will be blamed on the national dems, but they can't vote for wisconsin, and wisconsin voted walker again.

If the national dems had gotten involved from the beginning, this could have looked a lot different.

Walker got 8x the money and incumbency. Obama maybe should have campaigned, but he's got bigger fish to fry. Ultimately, more Wisconsin voters picked Walker, which sucks

They would get hammered on the hypocrisy considering in 2008 Obama outspent McCain almost 3:1. Plus it would pretty much require Obama to take public finances, which would prevent him from outspending Romney in the upcoming election.

If I was kidnapped, woke up in a lab, told they were going to replace my vocal cords with those of Tony Jay, and lock me in a sound booth until the day I die I would look those bastards right in the eye and say "Alright you sons of bitches lets do this. This one is for the children."

    right?

there's still a point that their projections could be wrong.

With a quarter of the vote in and all the races we see sitting at 60/40, sadly it's over.

But hey, maybe we will see Walker arrested in the next couple of weeks.

They got way more conservative about calling stuff after 2000. These days, it's pretty much a done deal if they're calling something.

The results are going to close a bit when more Milwaukee votes come in.

It's not going to close 20 points.

Except in 2008, Obama didn't build his margin on foreign money.

Walker's lead is almost entirely based on out-of-state money.

Barrett may have only campaigned that long, but "anyone but Walker" was a strong sentiment for a long time.

Blaming the national Dems for this is outrageous. People are taking up not only for Walker but for the State Senators in recalls. This is on Wisconsin.

The alternative view point is that most of Walker's financing came from out of state, whereas Obama's came from in-(nation )state.

Also, I would be willing to settle for Barrett winning or a Prosser-like recount just so the idiots in the building across the alley from me stop shouting "Walker!" Probably not worth the millions of dollars just to shut people up though.

Barret has also closed from 38-61 to 41-58 so there is moderate progress as the counting continues.

money doesn't really buy elections. if the margin of victory is worse than before(which it looks like now) then the blame goes on wisconsinites.

What's the story with Bayfield and Ashland counties being so different from everything around them?
Their pro-Barrett spread is as large as Dane County, and those three are the only places that seem to have gone so heavily Democratic.

I hate people. Especially this idiot (the quoted retired Postal Worker, not Charlie):
Eventually, I asked him why he was here, at the Serb Hall, supporting Scott Walker, whose politics were far more in tune with the people who are trying to strangle the postal service than they are with the people who still work there. Phil told me that it was about his sister-in-law. "The problem is that, when you start handing out free health care out to teachers, that annoys me to no end," he said. "I never got free health care. My brother's wife is a teacher and I once asked her, when I was getting my teeth worked on, what it cost her and she said, 'Nothing.' It should never get to that point where somebody's getting free health care. Something's way out of whack there."

I feel like I should point out that there's a lot of "Walker should get the chance to play out his full term", "The democratic senators abandoned the state just like Barrett wants to abandon Milwaukee" and also idiots.

I'd guess the urban precincts reported first. Don't start looking for problems until the reporting is nearly finished.

I didn't mean to suggest there were problems - I just don't know the geography and wondered why that area is so much more D than the surrounding counties.
