Downloading the trial right now. Highly annoyed that the launcher doesn't have a "pause" option for the download. I kinda want to play D3, and don't want to find out if the launcher saves the download state up to the point you're at.

I would be absolutely shocked if this was not the case. I don't know that I've ever seen an MMO launcher that doesn't let you pick up downloading right where you left off.

It does, I know I quit & re-launched it several times.

EDIT: Is it just me, or does the in-game chat channel mentioned in the OP not exist? Keep on getting a error when trying to get into it.

It only exists when somebody remembers to create it, since it disappears when there's no longer anybody online in the channel, unfortunately.

Also yeah, the downloader totally resumes so don't worry about that. I can't imagine any modern game would actually be dumb enough to not allow you to resume your download progress anyway!

Also, sorry I haven't been in-game so much lately, got some sort of crazy stomach thing going on at the moment so I haven't been up to playing for the last several days at least. :( I'm already all signed up for our new forums and stuff though, and I poked around in there a bit to help you guys out, so! ... Oh yeah, and I'll totally help grind BAMs when we get elected. If people have characters around 20 and have trouble with that guild BAM quest (I presume the first BAM that counts is the super-dangerous killer spider, Arakia or whatever) then I've got a healer and tank (two tanks if you count my Warrior, maybe? I think he's still low enough level to get credit?) around that level so I can help out plenty with that. I presume that's the mob @Moobly was talking about getting oneshot by on the previous page of the thread too (don't worry, that happens to everybody who tries to solo one of those things at that level!). And then I've got all sorts of other mid-range characters as well. Still nothing super high up yet, but I'll see what level BAMs Faboo should be helping kill and level as necessary.

Yeah our peak numbers took a dip and maintaining the channel became sort of difficult after that. I'm seriously considering a recruitment drive or something.

I vote in favor of an (open) recruitment drive. In fact, we should do this asap, before varnarch registration period ends. The additional members we get will help us during the voting period and if we win, help us even more with grinding PP for maintaining services.

If this is a thing we do, keep in mind that we currently have an open guild bank (mostly; I think the Recruit rank still doesn't have access which is always a good plan), so we need to be careful how we handle people we don't know anything about. Like, obviously anybody could be "that guy" who ruins our happy fun banking system, but at least fellow forumers have a history we know about and can't just disappear into the ether as easily. This stuff is also harder to handle in TERA because there aren't any fine-grained permissions (so no restricting ranks to only have access to certain tabs, etc.). I guess we could always restrict bank access to PA people only... dunno how other members would feel about that?

You should absolutely give all penny arcaders a special rank before open recruitment begins, one that comes with bank privileges

I think restricting the guild bank to PA members only would be a smart thing. We should encourage all new members who aren't PA to register on the guild forums and the PA forums. When a new person has been around long enough and seem like a trustworthy person, you can always give them bank access later. Unfortunately, I think it's the only way to prevent having to tighten guild bank access more than you want to.

I had merging kicking around in my head for a while but I figured most people that stuck around would rather we try to keep things sort of PA-flavored for as long as possible. Honestly the only thing that would change (for us) is more hassle about the guild bank but that's manageable, maybe weeding out the odd shitlord or two but I don't think that's anything any of us are unfamiliar with in mmos.

What really bugs me about the whole guild bank setup (or lack thereof) is the fact that you can't set maximum daily withdrawals or anything. Like, really? Nobody in Korea wondered why that might have been a feature in other games? Or EME for that matter, when they were localizing the game? Gah. I don't know. Maybe everybody in Korea has a code of honor or something.

I hear they form lines in game for quest targets and bams.

Yeah, I'd say they appear to be more responsible and reasonable then the average player in the west.

To be fair I've queued with other people a number of times in game already.

What I'm going to do for now is create a new, limited rank and try to word up a recruitment post to put up on the official site and probably fix our app thing up on the new site we just got. Just got home from work a bit ago so I'm a little on the wonky side haha.

EDIT: On that note. What kind of information are we looking for on our guild app?
EDIT 2: The Rank of "Good Sir" has been added to the guild roster. The only permission it has is writing of the MOTD

I personally don't mind having non-PA people in the guild to liven it up, and especially to help farm if we get a Vanarch position. I like the stipulations about limiting bank access (obviously) and encouraging people to become a member of the forums if they want to gain greater acceptance and trust.

Our guild is nearing fullness though, so to go along with this new recruitment drive, it may be worth considering to clean up the roster, getting rid of those who haven't logged in for awhile. I know a common yardstick that has been used in other guilds is that anyone who hasn't connected in 1-2 weeks + 1 week per 10 levels should be cut. This can obviously be adjusted to whatever others think works best.

I also like the idea of there being a guild application for non-PA members on the new guild website. It doesn't have to be anything involved, but getting someone to write a bit, to show they have an inkling of intelligence, couldn't hurt in the least.

I think even if our regulars trim down to one main/one alt it'd free up a ton of space. Anybody else that hasn't logged on since early May would also probably get the boot.

So how is the US / EU split? According to the OP there's an EU guild, is it still active? If not, how bad a hit would my latency take if I played on an US server?

That space was blank because I don't think there were enough EU players on this forum to congeal into a PA-themed guild(I really should edit that out now that you bring it up). Everything I've heard about EU players playing on NA servers has been positive though YMMV

I can't find a latency meter but I'm playing just fine on the US server and think I will continue that trend for future games just so there is more chance of a longer lasting PA presence.

Does this mean I should drop in one of my characters on Dragonfall into the WANG guild? I am spending most of my time over on Jagged Coast getting murdered, but occasionally hide out on one of four characters there.

It is too bad they don't allow macros, having one that could do "/makechannel bleah code; /chat bleah code" would try to make and then join the channel and would be one click.
I haven't heard any huge drama over bank ninja-age in this game yet, which strikes me as odd. But then again I don't frequent the official forums sooo...
Over on Jagged Coast, Thirsty had their guild bank open access. Apparently someone from another guild joined, looted their bank and then quit. There was a big stink over it in game and on the forums. The thirsty guild master was pretty rude to the GM when discussing it. They were told it was part of the political portion of the game, and they should have been more careful.

So some bank raiding drama has occurred.

I think that just depends. With P2P off I was only getting about 65k/s, turned it on and it jumped to ~130k/s. By the time I went to bed it was up between 500 - 600k/s. When I got up it had finished at my full 1.3mB/s

Of course after the speed started going up I never turned P2P back off to compare.

BTW, do we want to do a GvG skirmish any time soon? BMC was thinking about tomorrow and we could set ground rules like "Don't chase if they want to run, only people level 40+, etc".

I'd frankly rather do some friendly battles than fight some guild who may take it personally...

Does anyone else feel like the whole political system is just a pointless waste of time? Being the vanarch, or in the vanarch's guild, grants no real power or advantage except a slightly faster mount in exchange for the hassle of farming policy points as far as I can tell.

They could have done some really interesting shit here. Police authority, free license to kill/plunder, special god-like gear or special skills would have been awesome and made for some good drama. In Aion the highest ranked pvp officers could literally transform themselves into a raid boss for a period of time and ravage any enemies. That's the kind of thing that gets ppl excited to participate.

What we have here is ... nothing really.

But with the high elf racial of restoring mana? Why would anyone roll a female high elf warrior? (*cough* like mine)

I went for aesthetics rather than best racial traits for the particular class. Plus I had too many female castanic characters.
