Hmm, what's the trick to getting that helmet off? I always end up killing them before it happens.

And Monster Hunter Tri was great.

It seems Johnatan sells DLC gear in case you already obtained the items through the proper quests.

Speaking of DLC, does anyone have any info on the armor set packs they released today? 15 unique pieces for each seems pretty meaty (especially compared to last week's, which was all stuff you could already get in the starting town, just already upgraded) but I don't want to spend the money unless it is really good and/or unique looking.

From poking around online, sounds like its about mid-level gear in regards to defensive stats, generally has poor elemental resistances but better status resistances, and all have a subtle particle effect (glowing bits, etc.) when worn.

They look kind of cool from the screenshots I've seen, but some people said its mostly re-colored/modified versions of other stuff? I dunno. I guess if you're using end game stuff and are more concerned with best stats, the DLC wouldn't do much. But if you're looking for more armor to wear it'd be good.

I'm on my phone and doing individual links would be a pain, but I found some in this gameFAQs thread (http://m.gamefaqs.com/boards/626514-dragons-dogma/63222101) so I guess you can poke around there.

Scension stunned big monsters on the ground. You're magickally swallowing them like a snake would.

Edit: Seriannen did something clumsy, and I couldn't reach her safely. But I could stop the countdown by leaping off a cliff and reloading the last save.

    So this is Greatwall?
Next time, I'll remember to bring a dress. But escorting someone here seems like bullshit. They'll fall off a cliff, surely?

Be on their right shoulder for a while and annoy them a bit. They reach up to grab you and pull it off. They have to be standing and not stunned by anything eg lightning.

You actually just have to be near their head for them to reach up, but if you are covering the helmet you get grabbed instead. Right shoulder is safesies.

Breaking tusks is the wrong way to go about it. They go berserk if their tusks get broken. They will not care about reaching up to grab you off.

Greatwall was built to prevent the flood of monsters from reaching grandsoren. As in there would be more (and worse) things hanging around the capital.

Escorts are actually really quite good about not jumpin off cliffs. They can be knocked off but they wont take a risk like sliding down a hill like your pawns gladly and gleefully do all day erreyday. If you want to take a shortcut you actually have to pick them up.

Does anyone know where to get a Pilgrim's Charm ASIDE from Fournival? Or a Banker's Periapt? I have only one side quest in the current "stage" I'm at to finish and it requires a Pilgrim's Charm. I had one, but that asshat Valmiro needed it to go on his journey. It can be created with a Veteran's and Banker's Periapt, but I only have the Vet. Blah. I'm not too concerned, I'm actually far more interested in going off to hunt the Griffin with the Duke's men, but I figured I'd ask before I get home.

There is a respawning Pilgrim's Charm in Soulflayer Canyon, its pretty close to the western entrance, its lying on the ground near the top of the highest ladder
(opposed to meeting the Cyclops, which is the other path) I got like 10 of them due to this.

Thanks a ton, just got it!

So, where does one regulary find Purpose Crystals and Grandblossoms?

Trying to upgrade my Heaven's Keys and Sulty Paero to improve my chances at Dragonforging them (would perfer not having to wait around for an Online Ur-Dragon kill again) and these are the items I need, the first one I haven't found a one, even though I've cleared each of the postgame rooms a few times, the other I've found a couple of, but with no idea as to exactly where. Any help would be awesome.

Played a little more last night exploring a few rooms in post game everfall. Finally returned pawns to @fawst and @yalborap. I believe they were both the level 41ish versions. Both should have come back with a fair bit of knowledge of late game/early post game enemies. Fawst, your ranger was pretty bad ass knocking things down a lot. Yalborap, love your healing and buffs, never change.

Rechecked out yalborap's mage as he was now 53ish (like me) and one of the few mage pawns on my friends list. Also took @Rami 's sorcerer, but stopped right after hiring. Hopefully I'll get a chance to see how this party goes tonight or tomorrow.

He's not gonna be perfect right now, since I haven't stripped off the shadow dragon-fightan' skills just yet. But I'll be retweaking him tomorrow, I think.

And now I'm gonna go sorceror again. Just because I never actually played a sorceror prior to the post game world so I have no idea how overpowered it really is. Shockingly quite a few enemies don't actually die instantly to maelstrom.

I'm going to assume you mean Purpure Crystals, which drop off Saurian Sages. I don't recall where Grandblossoms are offhand, but I'd say check the far northwest and in Soulflayer.

No gift though, and the default 3-star ratings in each category, and no comment.

If a pawn dies or falls off a cliff or something and not released at the riftstone, they get returned with 3-stars and no gift. You'd get the RC for the duration that they were with the other player though.

Pawns that come back with random items but no star ratings is part of the offline function. In order to not feel left out if your pawn isn't used, you get the message that it's returning with gifts from another Arisen's world, but you can tell it's just a fake NPC based message, because your gifts are random, and you get no Foe/Quest Knowledge for your pawn.

Cleared out Bluemoon Tower finally. What was supposed to be an epic battle was over before it started, because I am like level 45. One High Bolide = roast chicken.

Put down the portcrystal just outside the tower so I can get back there easily. Also picked up the gryphic chest armor and sabatons, my pawn is looking pretty awesome right now.

Is there a 'right' way to play this? As in I'm on my first playthrough, just finished the waterfall temple at level 20 with my pawn also at level 20, and borrowing two 40-something pawns too. I've done one escort quest but not really any of the side quests, I was just planning on working through the story and then doing it all properly on New game+. I also switched from strider to ranger as soon as I could (although I still only have a bow bought from the blacksmith that isn't amazing).

Reason I ask is that I spoke to a friend who's been playing this way longer than me (and is level 40 or so) and she's jsut at the waterfall temple now, how am I so behind in levels, and does it matter?

High level pawns give you a large penalty to your experience.

It doesn't really matter you haven't fucked anything. Just play the game at your own pace. There is no wrong way. Multiple different people play this game in multiple different ways and everybody gets through it fine.

I'm doing pretty much the opposite, all the side-quests I can, tons of escorts. I'm level 42 and I haven't even met the duke yet.

I think in an open world game like this, playing however you enjoy is the right way to do it.

Dang. NG+ dragon, and who do I get this time?
    Spoiler:

I grabbed the armor DLCs just for the heck of it. 15 pieces in each pack for 30 total. 2 sets for each basic type (armor, light, mage), plus 3 cloaks and 3 shirts. The ones I briefly tried looked pretty spiffy; the Emissary gear for strider/ranger will crackle with electricity, and the monomomimomoioi set has a black smokey thing going on. Stat-wise is mid-tier, but I some of the pieces will probably look pretty cool if you mixed and matched with other sets.

Yeah I played just like you TPSou. Higher level pawns, explored everything tons, levelled slow, had a bunch of fun. The story progress doesn't define anything in this game. It's just...something you do when you've exhausted making your own fun, which then changes the world a bit so you can go off and have more fun. The last thing you want to do is rush a game whose central design philosophy was enabling players to encounter awesome freeroam moments and personal stories involving epic monsters. Setpieces are actually pretty awful in this game when you compare them to things you find on your own, even if they're competent setpieces that do everything right.

Like, Dragkonias set me on the path to the drake fight at level 22. I was 26 I think before I killed it. The first fight, all ten deaths, the stuff I did to get extra skills and finally learning how to avoid enough attacks to beat the thing? Most satisfying monster battle I've had in years. None of the story bosses hold a candle to the day I sat down and decided I was going to figure out how to beat this thing.

I think I'm gonna spend some time farming chests at Bluemoon Tower. Spending 3,500 at the inn to rest for 7 days is no big deal since you pick that much gold up off the floor long before reaching the top. I got a nice set of arms that were better than my DF Drake Scale Sleeve, so now I'm wondering if I can get a full set from there. Gryphic Armor, meh. too heavy =)

Amy good loot to be on the lookout for aside from the Gryphic and Portcrystal?

Cool. Not sure how she was playing for you at the time, but I've gotten her to go back to her strider roots. Still a Ranger and will use the bow on a lot of stuff, but she climbs all over the big stuff again.
