Is it possible to limit the amount of bandwidth Steam uses? Id like to be able to stream hd video without interruption while downloading 3 games at once.

Not through Steam. You can set a QOS in your router or Windows machine that would probably work.

Hmmm. I had been looking at Ticket to Ride but I already own a couple of the games in Bundle IV.

Not worth it I think. Maybe it'll drop in price all on it's own.

Has anyone played the HD remake of MDK2? I just noticed it sitting there in the featured games section and was curious.

I won't be getting it right away in any case (oh Steam Sale) but I wanted to get a feel for how high it should be on my wishlist.

edit: I haven't played anything in the MDK series before, including the original MDK2.

Did anyone ever figure out the Dead Island - GOTY weirdness?

I.E. it now tells everyone who owned the base game that they now own the GOTY version, which has the DLC's, but they don't have the DLC's and can't buy them otherwise because the system tells you that you already own them.

This is pretty weird, I'll admit.

I was watching a stream of some guy playing a fucked up point and click, possibly called Downfall and walked in on the end. What the hell was that game?

The sound of eight hooves reaches his ears, comes from the heavenly light, two wolves howls fills his heart with fear, and he sees two ravens fly. Down from the sky a warlord rides, like fire his one eye glows, and just before the preacher dies he knows his god is false.

I've played it. It's pretty good. Short. Honestly not as weird as I was expecting (it's still plenty weird, but it explains too much most of the goings on rather than leaving them up to interpretation like other games that go for the same vibe do).

I played a few games today and none of them stopped any of my downloads. This last patch brought a bunch of small undocumented changes, is it possible that this long requested feature was one of them? Or maybe I was just lucky, but I alt-tabbed a bunch of times to resume the downloads and they just kept going! :D

Arcen Games (AI War, A Valley Without Wind) have announced they're working on another game called Shattered Haven. No real details, except that it's based off work on an old shelved project of theirs. The image includes a cartoonish zombie (?) and a bunny. The font and the zombie certainly evoke maybe something along the horror lines.

    http://christophermpark.blogspot.com/2012/08/shatted-haven-another-upcoming-project.html

Edit: Looking around at past articles it does indeed appear to be a zombie game. A lot of the early stuff makes it sound a bit like a more adventure oriented Project Zomboid, though how much the current ideas behind the game match up are hard to guess.

I think I dropped 120 hours into that game.

    117.4, according to Steam.

I think I could easily do the same. Especially since it came with all the DLC. And the worst part is, I bought Skyrim in the sale too. Fuck me, right?

Can't speak about the HD remake, but I played a LOT of the original MDK2 on the Dreamcast back in the day, and it's one of my favorite games of all time. Brutally hard, but fair. You play as 3 separate characters, each one has its own type of levels. The main guy are more snipey, the dog is all action, and the professor is more puzzle-y.

If you have a soft spot for action-packed, older games that are difficult but awesome, I'd say go for it.

OK, so this guy won my Driver: San Francisco giveaway. Um, not to be really blunt about this, but does anybody know who the heck he is? Yeah, I mean, grain of salt and all that since it's been at least 10 years since I played it, but I completely loved it when I did (and I was playing more games back then, before real life responsibilities got in the way). I wouldn't pay $15 for it, but I definitely put it on my wishlist and will snag it if/when it drops to the $5 range.

So, I've been on a war against my backlog since the Sale ended and thought I'd share my thoughts on the games I've beaten thus far.

Q.U.B.E. - a solid First Person Puzzler. It often feels quite lonely, since it's visual and mechanical style will invoke a few Portal comparisons, but there's no real story and no interaction with a character ala GLaDOS. The puzzles are excellent and at times rather challenging. Controls very smoothly. The ending... well, had me going "Wait... WHAT?" If you really like puzzle games, I feel it's a definite pickup.

Quantum Conundrum - Clearly I was on a puzzle binge. The art is FANTASTIC and I personally loved John DeLancie's dialogue. It made me laugh a few times and grin often. The puzzles are great in concept and make great use of the dimensional mechanic. Figuring out what you need to do is alot of fun. HOWEVER, actually doing it is at times not so fun. The game relies too much on platforming at times (read: a lot towards the end), and that is a tall order for First Person Perspective at the best of times and the controls here are certainly not tight enough.

Actually, thinking about it now, it might be better served by using a pad rather than KBAM. The KBAM controls are... awkward when you have to change dimensions quickly when jumping around. Q, E, 1 and 3 are the dimension buttons... now imagine pressing those while still managing WASD. When I hit up the new DLC mission I'll try my 360 controller.

Still, despite the flaws I really enjoyed it.

Blackwell Legacy - I'm playing this series with the GF, and we just finished this (the first) one. Great point and click adventure game. The writing is excellent and the story is surprisingly dark at times. It does suffer from some ol' Sierra moonlogic at times
    Spoiler:
but it's a really great first installment and makes me excited for the rest of the series.

Deus Ex (the original) - not quite done yet, but suspect I have only one more sitting to go. What can I say that you don't already know? It's awesome. I regret taking this long to get to play it.

While true, the dude has won like 5 games from PAers now (3 minus Gaslight and Lawndart), most with clauses like "Only for active Penny Arcadians." Yeah, and this is perfectly reasonable. The only reason I use G&T is because it's less likely to have random spies, not because I really need to know the guy or anything, don't care if they're SE, G&T, as long as they're around in some capacity. Just more of a chance they're at least active in some capacitiy.
