Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!

this is amazing. My laptop browser was showing the forums from the last time I had looked at them, and the "new post" indicator was Haphazard, in this thread, at 4:49am.

I refreshed just now and the new post indicator was...Haphazard, in this thread, at 4:49am.

You made this post exactly 24 hours after your post about GMT+1! That is kind of cool.

I would call it good. The film has some narative problems, but the acting is superb throughout the whole film.
Granted, it's a casting dream come true...

The old smileys taunt me in IE8. :(

Same, I get annoying lines of code with each smiley.

Pain is mostly gone now so I decided to not go to the doctor to acquire more.

My attempts at Science™ have failed to discern what part of the submission process replaces the smiley text with an image tag with the new smiley. There is a CSS sheet which is meant to replace the literal text with the smiley, but I think the submit button does a find-replace that removes the text. Why this doesn't work on IE8, I don't know. :(

It's really weird and oddly distracting.

    because IE

  • RMS OceanicRMS Oceanic Registered User regular
I think it's because in IE8, it notices the Alt text, sees the smiley and renders that, destroying the img tag, whereas in the likes of Chrome it's smart enough to ignore that.

  • RMS OceanicRMS Oceanic Registered User regular
At least my Science™ has allowed me to comprehend why we get these new smileys, if not the exact point in the process where it happens.

Oh God IE6, where every other page crashed and my attempt to roll back to IE5 nearly killed my Dad's computer.

But the computer survived the process and I had somehow managed to achieve my goal.

IE is a terrible piece of software and it is unknowable to me why business everywhere insist on using it when better software is freely available.

I assume it means that the US staged Pearl Harbor as an attack against itself to get a reason to go into WW2.

    I think.

Yea, that they had knowledge of the attack and instead of warning the base or doing anything to stop it, withheld it in order to drum up domestic support for an entrance into the war against Nazi Germany.

Stumbled across it while reading Sullivan's retrospective on Gore Vidal's life and now can't stop unearthing horrible opinion after horrible opinion that the man believed or said.
