Okay, I'm hosting a game right now, and I have an hour to kill. If I don't see anyone one for a half hour, I'm logging off completely. I have some reading I need to do, and I still want to have some time to get some OoT playing done tonight as well.

Edit: Something might've gone screwy with the game setup. I think it's okay now. I'll wait until 8:45.

Okay, so as I promised, I'm completely remaking the schedule....pending the forum's approval, of course. :D

Before you look at it, I want you all to know three things:

1) I constantly checked the feedback posted back at page 13, as well as Avris' posts just above this post. I did my best to make sure the idea used to make this schedule worked for those who liked the old schedule while addressing and solving the problems shown in the feedback posts. I hope it works out to everyone's satisfaction.

2) Feel free at anytime you want to post something like "Hey, I'm starting some Tetris. Who wants in?" That's still cool.

3) Let me remind you that this is the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection thread. While we are currently only covering DS games, we do know that the Wii will eventually use this service. Therefore, I see no reason why the following schedule can't also include Wii games when that time comes.

Getting excited? I hope so. :winky:

Okay, new schedule.....

First, scrap the entire idea of a certain day for a certain game. Gone are the days of Mario Kart Monday, Testicular Tetris Tuesdays, and Wetroid Wednesdays. It worked for most of us, but not all of us. Some of us couldn't get online because we might be working, while others are playing Uno on their 360. You shouldn't be penalized by missing out on playing a certain game with the rest of us by waiting for a week to have another chance. The idea for it is still very cool and valid, but not so narrowly as it was. However, starting at 8:00 local time each night and Animal Crossing every night stays with this new schedule.

Second, every NWC game will forever be accounted for under this new schedule. FUCK YEAH! This is because this new schedule will force the categorization of each game. Without this, the new schedule falls apart. More on that shortly.

Third, enough wasting your time! Let's get to that schedule!
(Month) 1st thru 7th: Puzzle games! (e.g. Tetris, Konductra)
(Month) 8th thru 14th: Sports games! (e.g. Mario Kart, Tony Hawk)
(Month) 15th thru 21st: Combat games! (e.g. Metroid, Starfox, Lost Magic, Bleach, Jump Superstars 2, Pokemon)
(Month) 22nd thru 31st: Ladies Night!....er, Week! (e.g. Clubhouse Games, Hardcore Pool, extra emphasis for Animal Crossing and Pokemon trading, other stuff like Castlevania PoR and FF3)
I'm sorry, I could think of nothing else for the final week(s) of the month. :P

With this new schedule, no one has to worry about missing a certain day of playing a certain game since the next day will most likely also be the same thing. It also gives flexibility and variety for each week. Bored of Tetris? Try some Konductra! Getting "Metroid Claw"? Cure it with Starfox!

But as you can see, the schedule absolutely depends on how we classify each game, which can be a bit problematic. For example, an upcoming NWC game is Nacho Libre, a wrestling game based on the movie starring Jack Black. While wrestling is a form of combat, it's also a sport (see "Summer Olympics"). Should the idea for this schedule be approved, because we could always shift a genre of games to another week, the organization of how each game is classified will be put to the PA-Wiki-page. I'll make the edit in the current page there.

That's all I can think of for now. So what do you think? Yea or Nay? :^: or :v:

Very good plan I think. It should work well with Wii too. Will weekends still be free for alls though?

Maybe we could have a tournament/finals on those days for any genre that supports it or certain games like pokemon? Having an Ace Pilot or G&T Pokemon Gym leader for the week could keep interest and rivalry.

That's just a few ideas to keep interest, since we haven't had any game ons in the past two weeks.

OP lacks the Starfox game on thread by the way.

Oh man! I was just about to ask if no feedback was good feedback (like "no news is good news").
Very good plan I think. It should work well with Wii too. Will weekends still be free for alls though?

No, that had to go away. My original idea for this was simply "First week/second week/third week", but then I realized there will be times when the first week is Friday the 1st and Saturday the 2nd, so that plan simply wouldn't work. And with the plan above, adding in free days for anything would just make it complicated. This way, it's just a simple change of games every 7 days.
Maybe we could have a tournament/finals on those days for any genre that supports it or certain games like pokemon? Having an Ace Pilot or G&T Pokemon Gym leader for the week could keep interest and rivalry.

.....but that we can do. Say....on the Saturday of their respective week? :D

I'll go add in that Starfox link to the OP, but for now, I want to make sure that schedule is okay with everyone so that I know I can change it in the OP and in the Wiki.

Maybe for those on the east coast, but there should still be some people in the west coast and in-between. If this is really a problem, we can shift it to 9pm.

I like the idea of trying to keep people from say, constantly missing the night they want to play on (like what if you love Tetris but work late Tuesday nights) by having themed weeks instead (and the standings and mini-tournament day sounds good too), but ...doesn't that mean if you only like one kind of game you have to wait three weeks to play? Have you looked at what the 360 people do with their game on nights? They use their wiki and have people sign up. I don't know how well it has been working (because I have hardly any games on the 360) but it looks like it is good.

I'm not trying to diss your idea though. It does seem like a good idea and worth trying out.

Oh, and about the time, please don't bother changing anything on my account. Frankly, with my two little boys my prime time is more like Midnight-2am. :P I need to find some Australians to play with.
