I'm afraid to watch the new Flash Gordon show. Because then I might like it and Scifi will probably cancel it.

Why was it mentioned that the President's "black" general tells him to nuke the aliens?

I kinda figured it was a special kind of general, like a "black hat".

That's what I told myself anyways.

it's sort of funny that they made "masters of science fiction" without taking work from the man who is the best sf writer

    Bradbury?

I was just reading "A Clean Escape" last night. How coincidental.

The rest of that lineup is kinda meh honestly. You could find some amazing short stories to adapt if you wanted to. Jerry Was a Man is one of my least favorite Heinlein shorts.

I think it's by the same creators.

I think I'd rather read the original stories than watch this show, are they legally available online?

I'd love to see them do Arthur C. Clarke. Or some of the Foundation novels.

yes. Some Foundation stuff would make great film or tv.

I'd also like some Larry Niven known space stories too, but that's probably more just me.

I watched about 15 minutes of that Flash Gordon show. It was incredibly boring. Maybe it gets better though I dunno. Still, a show should do something interesting in the first 15 minutes. Anything... at all. Seriously, absolutely nothing happened.

seriously, stephen hawking as the narrator

should be a good enough reason by itself to watch the series

No it shouldn't. He's not an actor. Hell, he doesn't even fucking talk.

I mean, I could understand "Morgan Freeman as a narrator" or something because he's good at it. Or Patrick Stewart. Or Laurence Fischburne (sp?). Or, you know, pretty much any good actor.

I don't hate Dr. Hawking. If I were a physicist attending some kind of physics convention and he were speaking there, I would be like "it's worth going even if I just attend this one lecture and blow off all the others."

But this isn't that kind of situation.

Yeah, I mean, I can't really imagine Stephen Hawking being a very compelling narrator. He's an awesome guy, and a super genius, but I don't think I'd really enjoy listening to him narrate something.

it's really difficult to make a lovecraft film because the whole point of reading a lovecraft book is to hear his lovingly loquacious style--very hard to put that into filmx

Well, they could get together a terrific script writer, director, actors, cinematographer, and crew.

But you probably wouldn't be satisfied with that would you?
