    Fucking tortoises

They have more HP than god and when my ranger encounters one he just happens to be an archer, and his arrows deflect like crazy from the shell. I hate those bastards.

'y' brings up an action list that contains words like "break" and "cut"..
But it doesn't seem to have any effect.

Also, my god whispered to me and struck me down.. I now have 4 dex...

A tortoise killed my mage. I hit the damn thing with everything short of the powers of god almighty himself, and it just waddled up to me and, apparently, bit me in half.

I think I've made the equivilant of a Dungeons and Dragons Dragonball Z character. I'm a monk who can enlarge his size, and can punch vampiric mists so hard they run away, without them being able to touch me.

My current character is a level 3 Drow Necromancer, I found an altar to "The Multitude" and began worshiping him. I slay unsuspecting neutral or good adventures and sacrifice them to the ghouls and in return the multitude rewards me with a small army of lessor demons. I have like 10 "manes" and 2 other demons following me around, total horde mentality, it's great.

Libraries are fun. For the cost of just a few in-game hours and a decent Knowledge (Magic) score, you can walk outta there with a nearly fully identified inventory. Just use skill (u) in the library, select Knowledge (Magic), research item, pick an item, and you get a one time chance per item to identify it. It sure saves use on scrolls of identify.

I have about 20 now, and the multitude generously replaces them whenever I need it. As said above, sometimes they break off, but they never break off and become hostile. I just mowed down a CR11 Adult Gold Dragon with them. I used "Call Companions" to summon them all around him, and just swamped him. Cost me half of the little chumps, but ftw.

Worse, I've encountered an ethereal vampiric melon: invisible, and can still hit you.

Yay, bardic hijinks. I just started as a bard, who has his own human companion. I quickly enlist a goblin ranger, making us a nice little force... until I ran into a pit trap. The human falls in and kills himself trying to get out. Well, I figure I could take the damage, get the stuff, and dimension door pot myself out. The goblin ranger thinks the same thing. We both move into the pit square at the same time; the goblin lands first, then I land on the goblin, killing the poor bastard. Now I'm just sitting here all D: at the inherent stupidity of it. It's like the three stooges, only now slightly less than three.

Ok, more like 0 stooges. Go go reincarnation option.

Bug report: Me and my companion are kicking a door. My companion breaks the door, as I was only kicking to get his attention so he could break the door. I'm still kicking uncontrollably and can't do anything else, effectively stuck kicking air. Bummer.

So, I started up a bard, but my companion seemed to be missing. Odd. And whenever I moved, I get message spam about me moving in and out of shadows. Odder. But then I received the last piece of the puzzle, when I happened to spot 'human mage' in my Things in View list.

My companion wasn't missing at all; he was a mage using a Globe of Shadow spell, and because I can't seem to talk to someone on the same square, which is the only place I see him, I can't give him any orders.

It seems that way. From my experiences, the companion is a random class, and acts like a normal enlisted npc. Also, if they are a spell caster, then you can Talk -> Barter them to Buy Spell Services for no charge, if they have any appropriate spells. So, if it has the Identify or Cure Serious Wounds spell, then that's how you can get it to cast that spell on a target of your choosing.

Oh, and the actions of party members affects your alignment, so if you're lawful good and it starts throwing javelins at neutral monsters, then you can expect a bit of a shift in your near future.

Further adventures of my friend in Incursion:

    Angus:
Man, you know how people look at exquisitely random things and use them to justify intelligent design?
I just jumped over an obvious trap into a hidden pit.

I, meanwhile, just bought a suit of bark armour +5 of invulnerability and regeneration, for 1 gp, due to wraparound. My drow mage, although he fails spells more often, is now immune to nonmagical weapons, and when he does encounter such weapons on a foe he can't take out, he dimension doors away and regenerates in three steps.

I wonder how long it'll take me to die anyways. I'll probably get poisoned or something.

Just gotta be careful. There aren't many real canon fodder enemies in this game; each enemy has something they can do to make your short little life tough. It's even better when when the average enemy comes across unaverage equipment. A skeleton foot soldier with a spiked chain of wounding can ruin your shit right quick. I think there are feats that cut down on critical hit damage (Roll with it) if it's that big a deal.

Spell levels and character levels are different, but, yeah, you can only learn spells that are in spellbooks you have.

Isn't it in one of the books you started with?

Yes, it's a third necromancy level 3. So you need to be fifth level, I would have thought it would be in one of the two specialist spellbooks you start with. Might be a bug.

You get it from the spellbook Ars Mortis, if you don't have that spellbook you can't get the spell. And you have to be level 5 to cast level 3 spells. If you started out as a necromancer you will have this spellbook. If you lost it somehow then you'll have to find another one. Or cheat and turn on the option that lets you learn and possibly cast (but I doubt it) spells without a spellbook.

Anyway, I found an annoying bug that keeps crashing my game. In my games where I get pretty high devotion with Mara she summons undead in to help you I guess? When she summons a revenant (yellow U) the game gets an exception and blows up. Furthermore, one time I was able to (c)ontinue and the revenant was listed as "hostile formerly peaceful uninjured revenant" and attacked even though I shouldn't have done anything to piss it off. Don't know whats going on here. Presumably she's summoning the revenant as a reward and not a punishment since I don't think she was that angry with me.

Geeze, I can barely survive till level 2. I think I'm going to try a priest of the multitude. I had an army of little minions by the time I hit level 2, but they got caught in a blast of magic, and entered into a battle to the death. Eventually I was killed by a skeletal war pony.

I can only survive as a kobold necromancer. Summons and phase door are your best friends. Creatures won't move out of melee with a summoned critter because they're afraid of AoO. Phase door gets you out of range without triggering AoO even if it fizzles and every mage starts with it for free. And you get detect undead and with the right starting spellbook ESP and See Invis. Nothing ever sneaks up on me anymore except oozes and constructs. Furthermore as a necromancer priest of mara (you have to avoid summons so you stay good) you can get the Life domain which lets you cast lifesight which lets you detect even oozes but constructs are still a problem. Furthermore Mara is the most likely to ressurect you if you die as long as you keep her happy.
