Zenfar- Thanks!! I should try painting a little more often though, I do it so much at work it takes it out of me and some good ole linear feels relaxing.

Wow, just checked out the stuff in this thread and it's fantastic! The mech stuff was great enough as it was, but then scrolling down it just seems like you're able to turn your hand to any number of things and do an incredible job... Very awesome.

Sorry Eye-lady, we have a blanket rule against kickstarter links. You are welcome to post more totally rad art from your game, though, and I'm sure people here will google it or check it out via your tumblr.
I'm wondering, are the first 2 images specifically about designing for animation backgrounds, or was it a more general-purpose lesson? Just curious because of the separated out 'layers' makes it seem like you're designing with parallaxing movement in mind. (I just Googled Will Weston and man...you always study with the coolest people. )
Thanks! I'm going to try and be more regular again. I'm switching from character design to background artist and trying to get into the animation field. Slowly working to become a Vis Dev artist one day. But it's gonna be a loooott more background work posts.
When he was explaining it he was talking about trying to think of scenes more in layers to help create depth. But it might just be what he's used to for animation backgrounds but it helped a lot explaining depth in a way and breaking it apart. A lot of his class was on location sketching and talking about " designing what you see."

Mouth on this guy seems a little narrow compared to the width of his nose, makes it seem like his lips are pursed in a weird way.
Everything else is looking rad though, I love the way you've built up the bone structure underneath.
