Anyone have a gift suggestion for a Chemistry professor? Nothing tech-savvy ( he doesn't carry a cell phone) and something reasonably priced. Three of us in the office are looking for a holiday present for the chair of the department.

I have a Maverick I've modded up a little bit and a Strongarm that's just derestricted.
Any time someone wants to get in a Nerf fight with me, I give them the Strongarm so that they have a chance in hell, because it wrecks the fuck out of a Maverick. The slam fire is really sweet.
I'm glad my folks have interests I can cater to by listening to the CBC radio. Just before my mom's birthday, I heard a band that she'd like (and did). The other day I heard of a book about a woman traveling around for geneology work, and my dad is super into researching our family history, so I figure he'll find that interesting.

When I was in second year we had to design a mechanism that had four moving parts for a project. My group's idea? The trigger system for a homemade Nerf gun.
So I made a sweet hardwood handle with my dad's flooring tools. Another member of the group had a small shop at home because he used to be a mechanical technician. He took two shock springs and an aluminum tube to make the piston. We used the 3D printer required by the project to make the trigger.
The first time we shot a dart with it, it left a welt on my friend's neck. It was SO GOOD.
And then in fourth year engineering we had a project that was basically "make a robotic thing i don't care." Which of course meant it was time to continue my life's work and modify a Nerf gun into a roving version of the Sentry from TF2. We took a Nerf Vulcan, added heat sensors to it, and mounted it on a roving platform we made. It could wander the halls of the building, find a target and then hold down the trigger until it couldn't sense life anymore. We also meant to add an Identify-Friend-or-Foe thing, where you could have a transponder to identify you as an ally it wouldn't shoot at, but we added it too last minute and had too many issues with power drain.

What's neat (at least for me) is that I can thumb back the hammer with my firing hand, making it a rare one handed Nerf gun
