I feel like Link will be a pretty solid megaman counter
Only having played the demo, I have a much tougher time facing Mario than Link. You only really lose out on side smashes with the shield, metal blade and leaf shield are not really big damage moves.
I can't really figure out Villager, he doesn't seem to have any good bread-and-butter standard attacks. Is he supposed to be more of an aerial fighter? His up and down air seem kinda bad and I'm crap at hitting with the tiny slingshot pellet.
I did find out that his axe is a pretty strong & fast attack if you just plant a tree somewhere.

Villages side smash is dope as hell
Link's dash attack will hop over the village hydrant if it's on the ground, but link's dash loses to the village side smash
edit the first time somebody spikes somebody by dropping a bowling bowl off the stage is going to be amazing

Oh, question. Has it always been that if you tilt while shielding, you will roll? I thought you needed to tilt and shield at the same time to roll.
Yes, though if you tilt lightly you can move your shield around.

The funny thing is that Final Destination isn't the most balanced stage or anything.
AHAHAHAHAHA God no. In neither game. There is no perfect stage, and I CP stages with hazards so I can use the inexperience of my opponent against them. Also because G&W stage has a ridiculously high ceiling and an angle on the recovery pad.
Also, one of the first Brawl tournaments had items on because, like in many competitive environments, you basically take a "wait and see" stance early in the game's life unless something is just blatantly overpowered like an unlockable super boss character. The result was the community having an absolute shitfit because the person they expected to win did not, and they harassed the winner to turn over his winnings to the guy who totally would have won if not for items.
Like, this isn't even unique to Smash: these communities can get shitty as hell when people take it too seriously.
I lost the gamestop tourney because of the stages and items in the final match. We ended up on custom stage medium, and I was set to win. Five seconds before time ran out, gold hammer spawns next to other guy. I die, match ends.
All his previous kills were because the stage is awful.
I will play against people with items on, as long as they want a competitive match. The sad truth is, I don't lose those because I knew the inherent properties of the items in play, and items on actually does make MK broken due to giving him a range of kill move and increasing his speed.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

I wish Mac's final smash had whoever he hit had to fight Mike Tyson in a punchout minigame.
I want to see Ganondorf get leveled by Tyson.

Now I kind of hope that the Boxing Ring stage has an Easter egg where Doc Louis gives Little Mac advice about the characters, like the Solid Snake Codex conversations on Shadow Moses
"Hey Mac! That's Samus Aran! She destroyed three planets on the way here! She's also got a nasty left hook!"

Right but one of them is the King of the Koopas and the other one's just some boxer
That's my favorite part of Little Mac being in Smash
Now he's the sort of guy who can see Ganondorf, the self proclaimed King Of Evil, and go "...yeah. Yeah, I'll punch that guy right in his face."
I think Villager has the record for that.
He's the guy in the illegal underground fight tournament who, like, keeps his opponent's leg as a trophy and suchlike, and the leads are guessing where he came from, and then it turns out he was a salaryman or something all along, and just thought this would be fun.

Right, but Villager's also got some really weird stuff going on with him
With the exception of Giga Mac, Little Mac's just a dude who punches dudes
He's way out of his league going up against Mario, let alone, say, Palutena

For example, I have empathy for siretchwarts because oh Lord Mac will suck harder than a vacuum powered by black holes and blowjobs.

Sorry, smash has been about the air game for a loooong while and being king of the ground does no good if you aren't fast and able to use proper recoveries and aerials. Just look at Ike. The worst recovery, ruins the character.

That could be true!
I thought I'd heard some good early impressions, though.

the omega stage version thing is cool, I wish I could play on regular battlefield with no items in the demo but whatever
I'm trying to "beat" the demo by beating a level 9 bot every character as every other character in stupid little 1v1 games, and I have determined that 2 minutes is enough time to do exactly nothing except get one kill then play keep away
Rumor is that Nintendo was taking input at E3 specifucally for changes to the wiiu version. I fully expect a battlefield option or an update to add it.
I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.

I would have loved a battlefield version of some of the maps in brawl, if for nothing else than to get to listen to some of the music tracks that were stuck on the shitty levels.
I still sometimes tough out a round of DK falls so I can fight with stickerbrush symphony going.

I make y into grab. The fuck else are you gonna use it for?
What if you're other jump button breaks and you're not playing Little Mac?
No one else punches nearly as much as he does.
Little Mac gets the most punches award.
Captain Falcon gets best punch.
Bowser has the best dropkick in the game.

Why I fear the ocean.
Also, I wish there was a 4th king in this game.
Yes I know DK, but all of his King titles are honorary at best.

You realize that rule would force you to cut Ganondorf.
Also, I'm amused that's the reason for no Lu, instead of the more standard go-to.
