Last week, American Horror Story: Freak Show introduced Twisty, the latest in a long line of psychotic clowns, who differentiates himself from everyday psychotic clowns by murdering people with scissors. But, as is always the case with clowns, no one is laughing—least of all Clowns of America International, which recently took time out of terrifying the nation’s hospitalized kids to complain to The Hollywood Reporter that Twisty is ruining its respected reputation. You know, the reputation of a clown.
When it spots him at the end and lunges I nearly lost control of my bowels.
It's perfect in how it plays with your expectations from other stealth games without breaking the fourth wall. You can almost hear his thought process "oh god, can it see me under the table? Oh god it can, will it be able to reach me under here? OH GOD IT CAN!"
It's funny watching people play that game, I'm not sure I've ever seen people just like be unwilling to move forward in a game like that.
People will find somewhere they think they're safe, or they'll hit a spot where they think the alien might be ahead of them, and then they're just like NOPE, NOT GOING THERE, GONNA STAY HERE
Even when it ends up taking them way longer than just experimenting and reloading, people still don't want to do it. It's not a perfect game, but that element of it is really impressive. Even people who are really used to just gaming systems start freezing up and making boneheaded mistakes because they're panicking.
A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.

They made the decision to rely on save points with zero auto-save in the game so that there would be more hesitation to simply experiment and reload. You can even be killed while saving the game, as you are required to walk up to the save point (a payphone-looking device on the wall), insert your card and then wait for the three lights to light up before you can save your game.
I think it was a brilliant decision because you'll play more carefully and get way more scared of enemies when you know a death will reset 30 minutes of gameplay if you get careless.

All my Ghostbusters are gonna have to answer some big questions from me about their extreme right-wing zealotry.
Counterpoint:
While one can’t help but frown at the use of nuclear power, there’s a lot to like about Ghostbusters, the tale of how strict scientists (“Every ancient religion has its own myth about the end of the world.”) take it upon themselves to save the world after losing their jobs to stodgy, rigid-in-their-beliefs, administrators. The non-discriminating team pursues a humane agenda of trapping and incarcerating pesky spirits, instead of vaporizing them, and when confronted with the extra-powerful being Gozer, the boys in gray attempt to open up a dialogue before having to resort to the non-capital punishment of trapping Gozer in its own dimension, saving the day. And hey, when you think about it, four 1000 year nuclear power sources are better than thousands of industrial batteries year after year, right? -Russell Jones http://protoncharging.com/2009/02/27/ghostbusters-7th-best-liberal-movie-ever/
Ya know I always liked the idea of GBX. It managed to do what we've all wanted from Ghostbusters more than anything else, and establish a universe with its own canon.
Granted, I never really watched the show, but this only ultimately falls in line with the fact I didn't really watch the original cartoon, as I was like...four when Ghostbusters II came out.
But the fact it's a full direct sequel, and not something that shitty, is quite unprecedented for kids cartoons
To be honest, there was nothing particularly extreme about XGB other than implications from the title.
It was just.. more ghostbusters shenanigans with a newer team.
Also it was funny that they went super PC with the characters, but thankfully they didn't beat you over the head with any sort of messages (as far I can remember).
It was pretty enjoyable. It was a nice bit of entertainment every morning before school.
Also I watched the hell out of the original ghostbusters cartoons when I was a little kid, so I enjoyed the occasional nods to the original series.
Like when they brought back the Grundle, or when Peter Ray and Winston came to visit for Egon's birthday, and the old band was back together for one episode, and (I think) they even had the original VAs and everything.
XGB was a great show. I was 6 in 89 when the second movie came out and was already a massive fan of the first movie and the Real Ghostbusters cartoon. Seeing them continue the canon was great and the world was a little more grounded in XGB, making references to real-world media and events.
As an aside, the first movie in the cartoon canon is just that, a movie based on the Ghostbusters startup to their showdown with Gozer. When the guys see the script Winston says “Ramis, Aykroyd, and Murray? Sounds like a law firm." Later Peter complains that the actor playing him doesn't look a thing like him. In Extreme Ghostbusters's best episode Back in the Saddle the old guys come back to visit the new team after having retired to other professions. Winston is a pilot, Ray sells cars in the midwest, and Peter has been living in California trying to get another Ghostbusters movie made. This is a bit of an ironic reversal from the real life Bill Murray whose refusal to entertain a Ghostbusters 3 is one of the major reasons there hasn't been a third movie.
Also while I'm still on the subject on Ghostbusters, James Farr has done some incredible animations mashing up classic movie stuff with nintendo references out the wazoo, and it is just the silliest over the top fun stuff.

Need some stuff designed or printed? I can help with that.
Because the last chapter has a lot of trial and error bullshit which would make starting from the last save point an absolute chore.
