Small Press Expo. Its one of the bigger conventions for independent comics in the country. Even if you're not too into comics, its a great place to find awesome reads. One good thing about it is it isn't as anime-infested or cosplay crazy as other conventions, more about the books and all.

    Seriously.

And since you have the indie guys there, not the big name whatevers, they are seriously happy to sit and just chat with their fans.

In fact, I have been going since 2003, and there hasn't been a year when I DIDN'T hang out with comic guys afterwards. Last year I went and had icecream with Scott McCloud and his whole family.

Oh yeah, is anyone familiar with this place? Is there a good landmark we can all shoot to meet at before heading in? Like say at around 1-1:30 before the show starts?

on a serious note, though, there are plenty of eating places nearby, and I for one wouldn't mind offeringup space in my carf if we want to drive somewhere, rather than just hoof it

Doesn't White Flint have a Dave and Busters... crappy food perhaps, but beer + Police 911 = Awesome

    JOSH!

    It has been AGES, man.

Yeah, there is a D&B in White Flint. I've never been in there, but the idea of beer is enough to make me go.

How young are the people coming to this going to be?

Also, I could be our landmark...

alright, show hours are 10am - 7pm on Saturday. What time do we want to go? I need to know for "taking time off work" purposes, as far as, am I able to work in the morning, or should I just take off the whole day?

If we are aiming to meet up around 1, and maybe be over to the show by 2, I think that makes sense.

If anyone is planning on rolling in later, I can give my cell number to them, so that they can call me when they show up.

we can certainly meet up earlier, but I don't know how far some people will have to travel.. 2 seemed like a good time to head into the show. Figure stay a few hours or so, then can all head out and hit up dinner afterwards. Leaves plenty of room for people that need to leave earlier, and of course anyone wanting to leave later is no worries at all.

alright, so l think we should aim to meet between 1 and 1:30 on the bottom floor of white flint mall, in the center, where there are benches and such.

    What say you all?

They weren't able to arrange a real duel to the death promised via contract, so all bets were off.

    Gotta set a standard somewhere.

I went to the ren fest on the 16th.

I doubt I can do anything that's up in Maryland. I only travel there once in a blue moon, I personally hate being shot so I try not to put myself in the position to be shot very often.

I'm going to the D.C. United game on the 20th, and the MLS Cup final on the 18th(Nov.). And any playoffs that are at home. I'd be down with meeting anyone else that went.

And if you guys have too much fun in VA you can visit me at Reston Hospital.

I might actually be in MD and going to the Ren Fest the weekend of the 20th (which is the last weekend).

Dunno, depends on if I go up to visit a friend or not.

EDIT: Also I lived in Maryland for 19 years and was never once shot.

The FBI issued a report that suggests that most guns used in crimes in Maryland, New Jersey, Delaware, New York, etc, actually come from Virginia.

That's it, you have to come up and visit the rest of us.

NaC can give you a personal show since he's done a ren fest before.

And I've never heard of Maryland being overly violent... maybe coming from NJ first it simply couldn't compete and looked tame in comparison.

Oh yeah, how far is this mall place we are meeting up from the expo?

I'll be updating the OP later on today, might as well get all relevant info.

As long as it's withing viewing distance of it that should be cool, so people that are unfamiliar with the area don't go on an unplanned excursion trying to find it.

To be fair, Baltimore is the reigning murder capital of the country for a few years now. Its a great city, just don't go in the wrong areas. The rest of maryland is suburbs or wanna-be farmland, basically.

I've been to that Ren Fest more times than I can count. I don't need a tour guide. But a "personal show" sounds like he might end up juggling or something, so that's cool.

And I do not have to come visit you people. None of you faggots hung out with me when I lived there. :P

well, the only reason it may not be in viewing distance is because of trees

I parked at the mall last year, though, and let me tell you, I am NOT one for long unnecessary walks.

I will get addresses so we canall run our own Google Maps simulations, and UNDERSTAND
